The Mommies Reviews

Good morning, how are you? As we move into a new week and the first week of summer that that kids will be home, I wanted to share a new music album with you. I don’t know about you but Charlie is going through school during the Summer, so we plan on listening to the album on Monday. Would you like to join us in our Homeschool Music Class?

Los Angeles, CA– In the first of its kind, the Franco-American duo The Vignatis are slated to unveil their sixth volume of work with a premiere French gypsy jazz children’s album à la Django Reinhardt entitled Swing Kiddos Hot Klub de France (Vol. 6) on July 28, 2023.

The Vignatis, creators of their own genre “Gypsybilly” celebrate their musical and cultural roots by releasing the first children’s album of its kind in the French “jazz manouche” gypsy jazz swing style made illustrious by the late, great Django Reinhardt. It was only a matter of time before this nine-track acoustic volume of original songs would come to fruition introducing children to France, the French language, locations, and customs via various French characters and their journeys. The opening track title in both French and English for the verb “go” entitled “Allez, Let’s Go” expresses the importance of taking responsibility from being on time for school, to cleaning your room, and listening to your parents. “Un, Deux, Trois” teaches how to count from 1 to 10 in French, while saying and spelling “thank you” in French is exhibited in “Merci”. For dog lovers “Gaston the Frenchie” is a synopsis of a day in the life of a Parisienne French Bulldog and his silly antics. The instrumentation is classic in its setup of lead guitar, rhythm guitars implementing the “la pompe” technique, along with an upright bass. The spotlight is on the clarinet for various solos seasoned by the French accordion. The overall sound is lightly supported by a snare drum and high hat.

“Music is a great vehicle for education which is extremely important in the development of any human being. Since 2023 is the Year of Youth and Triumph we wanted to expose kids to a style of music that was created nearly 100 years ago. We are a Franco-American duo so introducing youth to a different culture was something we really wanted to do this year and what better way than through song. French gypsy jazz is one of the elements incorporated in our genre we created called “Gypsybilly” so connecting with those roots with true focus to do an album that is different from our five previous albums was the goal. Gypsy jazz is up-spirit music, bouncy and seems to be a driving force to get kids to dance. They love the way it makes them feel so they move around a lot. Being acoustic it is certainly a diversion from electronic music and the approaching world of AI. If we can contribute to the happiness of another, especially future generations, count us in!”

The Vignatis are a galvanizing duo combining their respective musical backgrounds and cultures of France and America. They are prestigious voting members of the Recording Academy and Grammy® Awards and have performed at many esteemed events and venues including the Recording Academy Grammy® Museum.
