Super Natural Family International Cookbook: A Healthy and Playful Global Recipe Collection (Review)

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share a new cookbook which is called Super Natural Family International Cookbook: A Healthy and Playful Global Recipe Collection I received a copy of in exchange for this review. Once you finish the review check out the Press Release here and a recipe they shared with us here. Inside this post are my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage from the items you purchase.

In our Homeschool this year we will be studying States throughout the World and preparing dishes from the Countries we are studying. Which is why Introducing Super Natural Family International Cookbook – A Culinary Journey for the Whole Family is a Godsend for my family. Charlie and I like the book because its small enough to sit out on the cabinet and not take up a lot of space.

The image on the cover of the book is full of color and the food pops right off the page making Charlie and I hungry and its vegetables which even David said looked good. The background is stripped which reminds me of Mexico. Turn the book over and read the description and you will find out there is 90 recipes from 40 Countries which will keep my family busy for a while.

I enjoyed browsing through the table of contents which is broken up by Countries ie States. The Author has gone over a well-stocked pantry with us. As well as safety and Herbs and Spice which will get Charlie and I out of the house and on a Field Trip as we will need to purchase the ingredients to make the dishes Charlie, David and I want to try. Would you like to come with us?

The illustrations will keep you entertained for hours on end and they made me want to move back into my trailer and put up open- shelving like the Author showcases in the book. You should see the bowls she showcases which I wish I had in my home. Charlie and I had fun discussing what was on the shelf that we have.

We began to look through the book and the first State was Armenia. Then it’s off to Australia. Belgium has Waffles which Charlie and David love which we can make for Breakfast this morning. Would you like some? There is China and David loves Chinese food so now I have recipes which I can use to prepare dinner for him on his Birthday.

Cuba is included and Charlie and I could watch I Love Lucy while creating the recipe from Cuba. Would you like to join us? England has Popovers which I’ve never had and neither has Charlie. Have you had Popovers and did you like them. Germany has Bavarian Potatoe Salad which is usually ht when our Potatoe Salad is cold but I do want to have David and Charlie try it out. Would you like some?

Holland has Gingerbread and I wish my dad was here because he loved having Gingerbread for breakfast I think I will make David and I Gingerbread. Would you like to have Gingerbread with us? There is so many other States and recipes but I’m not going to tell you what they are because I think you need to pick up this cookbook to share with your friends and family.

There is even a section on the United States but Charlie and I believe you should not only check out the recipes in this section but share any Family recipes your family prepares. Like mine likes to make Poor Man Soup and Pineapple Whip for Christmas. If you would like either recipe I will need to ask my Aunt Sue for them.

About the author: Nancy Mehagian

A friend once called me the Picasso of the Potato. I’m a first generation Armenian-American whose family narrowly escaped genocide. Leaving the security of suburban life to wander the globe, I established the first vegetarian restaurant in Spain, on the magical island of Ibiza. After a stint dancing cabaret in Syria I spent 16 months incarcerated in an infamous London prison, along with my newborn baby where I managed, even there, to pioneer a healthy way of eating. Of my culinary memoir Siren’s Feast, An Edible Odyssey, Quincy Jones said: “A spicy brew of recipes and adventures. I don’t know whether to eat this book, smoke it or make love to it.” Siren’s Feast–part cookbook, large part raucous memoir.

In 1977 I wrote the first vegetarian health food cookbook for kids and am pleased to announce that a new version has just been released, The Supernatural Kids Cookbook. Kid-tested and Mother Earth approved, it is an exciting and innovative collection of healthy, tasty and easy to prepare foods that introduces and encourages mindful eating for junior chefs and contains information about food groups, basic prep, kitchen equipment as well as 70 recipes for snacks and healthy meals the whole family will enjoy.
