Summer vacation for schoolchildren is a separate little life during which you manage to get a lot of new impressions, rest and grow up. Parents can both with homework help and help their children spend time not only fun, but also useful. A summer vacation abroad is a great example of such help. A child will get a useful experience of communicating with people from different countries and will be able to develop their academic and creative abilities.
This is also new experiences, and acquaintances with their peers from different countries, and, of course, new knowledge. Malta, Cyprus, France, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, and other countries gladly accept children of different ages and with different levels of knowledge in special summer programes. The trip will be a real adventure and bright memories for inquisitive travelers.
Why is it worth spending the Summer abroad
Summer camp is the place where recreation and learning are ideally combined. There are 15 to 28 hours of lessons per week. Classes are traditionally held in the morning, and then children go to various activities or spend time on sports and hobbies. The main advantages are the following:
Immersion in the language environment, which will ensure effective results. Surrounded by native speakers, it is easier to get rid of the language barrier and improve pronunciation.
Educational and recreational activities. The programme includes sporting activities, various master classes, quizzes, and competitions. Young students are taken to different excursions to places of interest. The cultural program takes into account the interests and age of the students.
Combined programs, where you can do what you like and not only study a foreign language. Depending on the chosen program, a child may participate in soccer, golf, horseback riding, tennis, cooking, sailing, and other water sports.
New encounters with children from around the world will help your child broaden his or her horizons. This is the surest way to learn about the existence of other cultures, traditions, religions and mentalities.
The opportunity to tighten up some academic subjects during the vacations: math, biology, history, and others. There are also programs related to the study of photography, fine art, and even the study of the novel Harry Potter by Joan Rowling at Kings Summer Cheltenham.
Each school and organization has its own admission policies for the programs. Most often children are accepted from ages 7-10. Lessons take place in the morning, with time in the afternoon set aside for activities, hobbies, sports, and socializing. The actual learning takes place during the whole day, since all further activities are also in a foreign language. In addition to language courses many camps, such as UniQuest Camp in Cyprus runs a summer program at the British University UCLan. This is a great opportunity not only to improve the level of English, but also to learn a variety of academic subjects: business, psychology, information technology. For the most ambitious there are language exam preparation courses, such as Cambridge FCE Fast Track Exam Preparation at CES Dublin. The programme lasts for 4 weeks and combines intensive preparation for the Cambridge B2 exam with sport and fun. The staff at the language camps and schools provide individual attention and security for each young student. For example, at Absolutely English there are three school staff members per student.
During the study you can live in a hotel, your own residence for children or host family. If a family program is chosen, the child lives with parents in an apartment, hotel or any other convenient location.
In addition to vacation courses in language schools and camps, you can learn in the teacher’s family. For example, the Regent Home Tuition program, if the child dreams of going to England. And with the Home Language International program, in addition to the UK, you can live and study with the families of teachers in many other countries, such as: Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic and others. It is important to note that under this program you can learn languages spoken in the above countries. The main advantage of this type of program is living in the teacher’s home and communicating practically non-stop. Children will experience real immersion in the language, culture, and life of another Country.
