The origin of the name “Submarine sandwich” is believed to have been created on a United States Naval Base in Connecticut. Benedetto Capaldo, a local restaurant owner, would typically receive several hundred orders for these types of sandwiches every day from the sailors on the base during World War II.

If your children are taking a cooking class they can go grocery shopping for the ingredients for there Submarine Sandwich. Then they can come home and put them together.

Submarine Sandwich or Hoagie Bread
Black Forest Ham
Oven Roasted Turkey
Roast Beef for David
Maynoise
Mustard
Dill Pickles for David
Banana Peppers for David
Cheddar Cheese
Pepper Jack Cheese for David
One slice of Submarine Bread or Hoagie Sliced Open
Spread Mayonnaise or Mustard or both or bread or what ever sauce you prefer. It’s your Sandwich make it your way.
Alternate the Meat we use Ham and Turkey on mine and Charlies.
Place Cheddar Cheese on top then we put our into the oven and turn on the Broiler to melt the Cheese. Ask the adults for help with this.
Take the Sandwich out and let it cool. Serve with your favorite chips and beverage.
