The 25th Annual Pumpkin Patch is open through October 31
One of Lake Highlands’s most popular, enduring traditions – the annual St. James Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch – is back now through October 31st.
During the month of October, thousands of Pumpkins of every size, shape, and variety will be sold in the St. James Pumpkin Patch, located at the intersection of Audelia and McCree, just north of Northwest Highway.
The Pumpkin Patch is a joint venture between St. James Episcopal Church and Southwest-based farmers engaged in planting, growing, and harvesting the crop. St. James’ proceeds from Pumpkin sales fund the Saint James Student Ministries, helping young people grow in faith through local outreach and national and international mission trips.
St. James hosted its first Pumpkin Patch in 1997 to benefit the Parish’s youth activities. Since then, the Pumpkin Patch has grown to fund the student ministries fully, and we have begun to raise money for the missions and outreach efforts of our Church as well. Beyond our Church, the Pumpkin Patch has become a special place for the community. Many area families come back year after year to purchase Pumpkins and take pictures of their children, grandchildren, and even pets.
School Groups & Tours
School groups are welcome to visit by requesting an appointment. We can accommodate groups of all ages in the patch. To schedule a visit, click this link to e-mail Jared Phares. We welcome school groups Monday – Thursday mornings to make every effort for a private visit for children and their families. We will schedule groups during normal business hours, but with the understanding that the patch will be open to the public.
Volunteers Needed
We count on Volunteers each year to staff the Pumpkin Patch, provide a welcoming face for our Community, and help raise funds for our students. The only way our patch is successful is with your help. Join us on October 29th for a festive Fall Family Fandango at the Church! We will have bounce houses, trunk-or-treat, music, great food available to purchase, and more fun for all ages. Bring your family, invite your friends, and join us at St. James. The Fry Daddy Men’s Group will be manning the smoker and grill, we will have a DJ playing fun and festive music, and there will be plenty for the kids to do as we celebrate together.
