How are you this morning? I’m doing pretty good. A tad bit behind but it’s okay. I will catch up on everything this morning because David returns to work this morning.
Charlie can sleep in and do his homework when David gets home. Once Charlie is done we can go walking and once I finish my walk I will come home and make dinner.
At least that is my game plan but when we don’t include the LORD in our plans things can change so I’m placing everything into his hands and just going with the flow.
For this morning’s song in Day #3 Song of the Day Challenge we were supposed to chose a song about Summer. Ever since I saw the challenge I have been thinking of a song by Kid Rock.
Before I could share the song with you from Kid Rock the Beatles popped in my head as well. Who would you prefer hearing a song from and why did you chose that singer?
Instead of sharing one song with you this morning I thought I would share the top 5 songs of Summer with you. I will highlight one song from the list. In the meantime if you have a song about Summer you like that isn’t on the list leave me a comment then Charlie and I will check it out.
Kid Rock All Summer Long
Kid Rock – “All Summer Long”
With a song as American as apple pie, Kid Rock brings us a taste of his childhood summertime, in a world before technology took over. The track tells us of a time of experimentation, young love, and good times – just what most people are looking for every summer. Verging between rock and country, musically, this is the perfect listen as you cruise around with your windows down.
1. Alice Cooper – Schools Out
2. Bryan Adams – “Summer of ’69”
3. Justin Timberlake – Summer Love
4. The Beach Boys – Surfin USA
5. Weezer – Feels Like Summer
“All Summer Long”
It was 1989
My thoughts were short my hair was long
Caught somewhere between a boy and man
She was seventeen
And she was far from in-between
It was summertime in Northern Michigan
Splashing through the sand bar
Talking by the campfire
It’s the simple things in life, like when and where
We didn’t have no Internet
But, man, I never will forget
The way the moonlight shined upon her hair
And we were trying different things
We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle
Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long
Catching Walleye from the dock
Watching the waves roll off the rocks
She’ll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We’d blister in the sun
We couldn’t wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll
While we were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle
Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Sweet Home Alabama
Turn it up
Now nothing seems as strange
As when the leaves began to change
Or how we thought those days would never end
Sometimes I hear that song
And I start to sing along
And think, man, I’d love to see that girl again
Man, I’d like to see that girl again
And we were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle
Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
We were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whiskey out the bottle
Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Home Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing all summer long
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
