Some Dogs

The Mommies Reviews

Good morning, how are you? I want to share a new children’s books with you. Some Dogs by Gibbs Smith by Lydia Nichols (Illustrator) is a book Charlie and I will be able to use in our Homeschool Classroom when we study animals or dogs. Would you like to join us in our studies? Remember we was blessed with our copy of the book for this review.

If you know my family, you know we love dogs and have 3 of our own and any of our friends or family who have dogs we end up adopting. Which is why Charlie, and I couldn’t wait to read Some Dogs. Charlie didn’t even want to open the book to read the story this morning because he was having so much fun looking at all of the dogs on the cover.

Charlie and I discussed which breed of dog they were and what we thought a good name would be for them. Then Charlie sat down with me to read the book. Before I could start to read Charlie was reading the book outload to me which he hasn’t done in a long time bringing us closer together. David even came and sat down with us to listen to the story.

I love how the author would explain how dogs can be different from each other to one being solid and one having spots which Charlie said could be a Dalmation my mom\s favorite dog. Some dogs are shaggy like the Sheep Dog in the book, and some are sleek. Which lead me to sharing a Disney Movie with Charlie we will be watching on Friday in our Homeschool.

As well as making cookies in different shapes of dogs and dog houses for snacks in our Homeschool Cooking Class to serve during our movie. Would you like to join us for movies and snacks? Did you know some dogs can be unique? They we learned just like people all dogs are the same inside.

Some Dogs s a board book for younger children but both adults and children can learn Some Dogs. I believe all veterinarians should have this book in their offices as well as Pet Stores. Charlie is excited to share the story with my niece Lily and my nephew Jason when they come over this week. Would you like to join us for storytime?

About:

An ode to the wonderful diversity of dogs (and their owners), this colorful, chunky board book is work of art meant to be displayed face-out on nursery bookshelves.

Some dogs are slender. Some dogs are round. Some dogs are leggy, some close to the ground.

The dogs in this bright, playful board book come in all shapes, colors, and sizes—but they don’t let their differences keep them from having fun together. Every page turn reveals a new layer to Lydia Nichol’s adorable depiction of a busy dog park. A gentle introduction to diversity and acceptance, this rhyming story helps young children recognize that differences are often only skin deep.

Some Dogs is part of the LAYERED VIEW board book series celebrating the ways in which our differences make the world a diverse place. Whether examining the unique needs of every flower in a garden or the special qualities of every puppy in a dog park, every die-cut page of a LAYERED VIEW book adds a level to the story—all building to one gorgeous, multi-dimensional scene perfect for displaying on a bookshelf or a bedroom shelf. Rich with special effects like foil and embossing, LAYERED VIEW board books are a beautiful, playful way to introduce new perspectives to the little learners in your life.
