Signal Art Program

Homeschooling can happen anywhere using anything. This week I wanted to help Charlie get to know our City better. We have Signal Art Program and artists have painted pictures for each of the boxes. For Charlie, I plan on taking him to each box this week and taking a picture of him with them. Then when we come home, he will look up each person and share at least two facts he learned about them.

Now you might ask me how this is going to help Charlie learn more about his City and it is simple as it will take us to places we haven’t been before leading us to new businesses and adventures. Because while on our journey we will be able to stop and look around and check out all the sites.

While getting up moving around as this new adventure will allow us to walk and run around. I can’t wait to see where the experience takes us and what all we see and find to use in our classroom. As well as what discussions the signal boxes will lead us to. As well as helping teach Charlie about different occupations.

Signal Art Program

The NRH Signal Art Program was implemented in 2007 to enhance the City’s Art in Public Spaces Program. The program works with professional artists to design original artwork for traffic signal boxes located throughout the City. The Signal Art Program serves as an outdoor “gallery” with rotating exhibits that change approximately every three years. The North Richland Hills Signal Art Program has attracted national attention and is funded solely through donations.

Residents and commuters may have noticed some of the “Hollywood Film Cowboys,” who have been guarding prominent NRH intersections since 2013, have started riding off into the sunset! In October 2016, “Music Legends” started taking their places. In this newest exhibition, great performers from all genres of music presented Whether your favorite music is Classic Rock, Country, Pop, Soul, Jazz or Classical, you’ll find someone who represents the music you love and listen to. Look below for the map, which will be updated regularly as  new “Music Legends” are installed
