Last night David asked me what I would like for Easter Dinner. I had said I would like to have Barbque but I couldn’t figure our where I wanted to go get it from.
Then this morning as I was going through pictures I found pictures from Shady Oaks Barbque the last time we went. I thought I would share these pictures with you and ask once were allowed outside if you would go and check Shady Oaks Barbque out.
If you like sitting on a bank of a Creek then Shady Oaks Barbque is the place for you. On Friday evenings Shady Oaks Barbque play’s Live Music outside. I believe you can order food and drinks for outside which Charlie and I plan on doing the next time we go.
Charlie and David waiting to be seated at Shady Oaks Barbque inside the to go area as all the other seats was full.Charlie wasn’t fussing because he new how good the food would be.
Don’t you just love Charlie’s outfit? He is growing up and has his won sense of style. Which might not be my taste but as long as he is happy then I am okay with it.
Charlie is studying for his class that evening when we go home. Before you ask shouldn’t he be checking out the menu so Charlie can order dinner and the answer is no.
We come here so much that David, Charlie and I have the menu memorized and I can order Charlie’s dinner blindfolded and mine to. It’s David that likes to switch things up.
One of our favorite things at Shady Oaks Barbque is there Sourdough bread they bring out the the table with lots of butter. It’s always hot and never over done.
Charlie and I aren’t much of a bread eater and its unusual for us to finish a loaf of bread but when we come here we go through two loaves of bread. One fore dinner and one during dinner. I like that they bring you refills of the bread and don’t charge.
It’s hard to tell but I ordered the three meat plate where I can chose the meat I want. I picked Ribs which fall of the bone and are so good. Brisket with no, sauce and this is my favorite pat of my meal. Chopped Brisket which I take home for a sandwich the next day.
For my sides I chose Mashed Potatoes and there so good. I may not order Baked Potato or Potato Salad when we return but the Mashed Potato are so yummy. Charlie and David would eat these because there is no, skin on them.
I usually get Macaroni and Cheese or Fried Okra for my side. This time I chose Corn on the Cob which Charlie and I love. I could share the Corn with Charlie.
David ordered the full Slab of Ribs which he and Charlie were going to share. They chose Fries and Macaroni and Cheese for there sides. The slab of Ribs is enough for them to share and both was full. If they hadn’t been we could have ordered a dessert.

A WESTERN ROOTS OASIS, JUST OUTSIDE THE CITY
Fort Worth has changed quite a bit over the years, but at Shady Oak Barbeque & Grill we embrace the traditions that have made Fort Worth the gateway to the West.
Our slow smoked barbeque specialties and our classic Texas cuisine are all served from the historic stone barn we built our restaurant around. Whether eating inside the comfort of our dining room, or joining us on the grass lawn on the Big Fossil Creek and enjoying some live music, we look forward to serving you and yours very soon.
SHADY OAK TODAY
The stone barn was purchased by local restauranteur Chris Carroll in the 1990’s, and after building a restaurant around the original barn, Shady Oak Barbeque & Grill opened to the public in 2002.
A sister restaurant to the Spring Creek Barbeque concept located throughout the state, Shady Oak continues to serve slow smoked Texas barbeque and grilled specialties to our guests at the historic stone barn. In 2010, Shady Oak began hosting local Texas musicians on the grassy lawn on the banks of Big Fossil Creek, and a schedule of upcoming performances can be found here. We look forward to hosting you soon!
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
