The Mommies Reviews

September 26 National Better Breakfast Day #BetterBreakfastDay & September 26th is also National Pancake Day #NationalPancakeDay making this the perfect #Holiday to get the kids into the kitchen to cook.

Even though Charlie has graduated and not taking his #Homeschool Cooking Class that doesn’t mean Charlie shouldn’t still cook every week so when he moves out he will be able to take care of himself and anyone he lives with.

I was thinking this morning since Charlie hasn’t spent much time with his grandparents he could go see his Grandmother and help her make Hobo Breakfast for us and add the recipe to his Cook Book he is making. Then make #BlueberryPancakes for his grandfather to celebrate #NationalPancakeDay with. Would you like to join us for breakfast this morning?

Better Breakfast Day is all about recognizing the importance of eating a healthy breakfast and how a healthy breakfast can benefit your overall wellbeing. Did you know Better Breakfast Day was created in 2014 by the Whole Grains Council?

Since then Better Breakfast Day has become an annual celebration of nutritious morning meals. Eating a balanced breakfast full of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and proteins can help give you the energy you need throughout the day and set you up for success.

How to Celebrate Better Breakfast Day

1: Get your family into the kitchen and have them help you make a breakfast Smoothie If your not sure were to start try blending Yogurt, Banana, Honey, and Spinach for a healthy start to the day.

2: Egg bakes are a great way to get protein and carbs all in one dish. To prepare a Egg Bak you will need Eggs, Bread Cubes, Cheese, and your favorite Veggies. Bake in the oven for a delicious breakfast.

3: Breakfast Tacos are always a hit with families and all you need to do to prepare Breakfast Tacos is to Scramble Eggs and add Sausage or Bacon, Cheese, and Salsa for a tasty morning treat. Here is a fact about me when I eat Breakfast of any kid I do not use Salsa or Cheese. What about you?

4: Waffles are a classic breakfast staple and you can make Waffles from scratch or use store bought Waffle mix and top with fresh Fruit or Syrup. If your in a pinch like we get at times you can even use Frozen Waffles which may not be as healthy but at least your eating #breakfast.

5: Set up an Oatmeal bar with all your favorite toppings including sliced Bananas, Berries, Nuts, and Honey for the perfect combination of sweet and savory. For me all I want in my Oatmeal is Milk, Butter and Sugar and plain Ol’ Fashion Oatmeal. What about you and why?

September 26 National Pancake Day #NationalPancakeDay

National Pancake Day is a Food #Holiday that falls on September 26th which gives us a tall stack of Syrupy goodness to celebrate! Set the table. Mix up the batter. Heat up the griddle. Because the Butter is ready to melt and the Flapjacks and yes, Flapjacks are Pancakes and both are delicious!

Did you know Pancakes are also known as Johnnycakes, Griddle Cakes or Hotcakes, this batter-made breakfast dish dates back more than 30,000 years. In fact, #Pancakes may be the oldest breakfast food in history. Isn’t that crazy?

Johnnycakes became a traditional part of Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday celebrations when revelers would feast before fasting which they still do! The thin Cakes or Pancakes can be rolled and filled with Fruit and other fillings. Usually, though, Pancakes are stacked and drizzled with Syrup.

You can add Fruit, Nuts or Whipped Topping, to your Pancakes as well Pancakes are served mostly as a breakfast item, but Pancakes along with Bacon, Ham, Hashbrowns and other morning offerings also make a delicious supper and remember as Charlie and my dad like to say breakfast for dinner is a nice change of pace for families.

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY

There are so many ways to enjoy Pancakes whether you go out to your favorite breakfast joint or make Pancakes at home, be sure to add your favorite Syrups and toppings. If you play with your food we would like to see the stack of Pancake you make creating Pancake art? Post photos and recipes of your #Artwork while you enjoy your creation.

National Pancake Day’s humble beginnings date back to  2005 when originally the observance started as Lumberjack Day. Marianne Ways and Collen AF Venable sought an excuse to eat Pancakes and Waffles with friends. Since it was one week after “Talk Like a Pirate Day” and that theme had been worn out, eating lots of Pancakes like a Lumberjack seemed a better holiday than ever.
