This is a review for a CD published by Sara Lovell’s called Night Life which I was sent to review. The thoughts in this review is mine and my families no, one else.
Night Life is Sara Lovell’s third CD for children and families, (due for Spring release). I hadn’t heard of Sara Lovell until I was chosen to review Night Life. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to listen to Sara Lovell’s music I would like to purchase the first two CD”s.
I like how Night Life speaks to every child’s resistance to going to sleep and the glorious dream world they can enter once they surrender. When Charlie was smaller it was hard to get Charlie to go to bed at night.
If I had a copy of Sara Lovell CD then I know Charlie would have went to bed on time and that Night Life would have even helped me relax and fall asleep sooner.
Charlie’s favorite song was Leave The Monkey. I know if Suzzie was here Leave The Monkey would have been her favorite song as well. I can’t wait to share the CD with Leslie and for her to play Leave The Monkey song for Elijah.
I was also excited to find out that Sara Lovell has included a Lullaby For Grownups because we deserve to be pampered as well and we need a good night sleep if we plan on keeping up with our children.
Night Life celebrates the hours that lead up to bedtime and the magical worlds we enter when we finally succumb to sleep. Even before its release, the album has received a Parents’ Choice Gold Award and the song “I Don’t Sleep In A Bed” has been nominated for an Independent Music Award.
As with her last two critically acclaimed albums, the new release moves beautifully between diverse musical genres – at moments riotous and full of unrestrained joy and hilarity, at other moments tender, introspective and melodic.
Night Life touches on many of Lovell’s favorite themes of home life, nature, and the cosmos. The album covers territory familiar to every parent and child, delivering smart lyrics couched within the undeniably catchy and beautifully arranged songs that have become Sara Lovell’s trademark.
