The Mommies Reviews

Good morning as I continue to read throughout the US and try and finish 52 books this year I needed new books to read. This morning I found the books below. I haven’t read anything by these Authors so it’s going to be fun to check out there style of writing. If you’ve read these books or know of the Author let me know what you think of them and why.

Desire or Defense: An Enemies-to-Lovers Hockey Romance (D.C. Eagles Hockey Book 2)

I’m not the hero in this story.

I’m the villain…

The notoriously angry, grouchy, D.C. Eagles defenseman that just can’t keep his temper in check. The temper that leads to a fifteen game suspension from the NHL.

As if that’s not bad enough, I’m forced into a short term youth-hockey coaching gig. Which my manager swears will “rebuild my image.”

But what I didn’t expect was for a gorgeous, spunky blonde to stomp onto the ice on day one and lecture me about being rude to her little brother.

Something about this spitfire of a woman, and the boy she’s so protective of, has my defenses melting.

And if I’m not careful, I’ll burst into flames, forever melting the ice I’ve carefully kept around my heart.

(This is a closed-door romcom with mild language. Trigger warnings include: parental substance abuse & dealing with grief/loss of parents).

About the Author: Leah Brunner

Leah writes romantic comedies sure to make you laugh out loud!

As a child, Leah’s parents always told her she lived in her own little world and was oblivious to reality. The real world was simply too mundane for her. Writing was one way she could share her little world with others.

Leah is technically an adult now, but still spends about 95% of her time daydreaming. The other 5% is spent writing, petting her Maine Coon cat, and wishing she was ice skating.

Although she’s a Kansas girl at heart, Leah is a proud Air Force spouse and currently lives in Ohio with her husband and three children.

The Flip Side of Heartbreak: An Age-Gap, Neighbor Romance Kindle Edition

What’s the only logical thing to do when you find out your wife is pregnant with another guy’s baby?

You buy a house—sight unseen—in a town you’ve never set foot in, just so you can tear the whole thing down to the studs. Seclusion and sledgehammering are my kind of post-divorce therapy.

Problem is, the feisty next-door neighbor is some best-selling romance author with a bad case of writer’s block. When she asks me to be a critique partner for her latest novel, I know I shouldn’t agree to it. She needs a muse and I have ways to inspire her I don’t want anyone else reading.

But I need her help, too. Demolition I can handle; it’s the renovation part that isn’t in my wheelhouse. Suddenly, she’s got me rebuilding more than just my fixer upper—she’s working on my trust. But after being with the same woman for the past decade and then getting hurt beyond repair, I don’t know how to let anyone else in. Or if I even want to.

That’s the flip side of heartbreak, right? You have a say in how your heart gets pieced back together.

I came to this town to break something. I won’t let it be my stupid heart again.

The Flip Side of Heartbreak is an age-gap, neighbor romance with spicy scenes and heart melting moments that will have you laugh-crying one minute and fanning yourself the next. It’s the first in a series of standalones including swoon-worthy heroes and guaranteed HEAs.

About the Author

For the last eleven years, I’ve written romance under a pen name, publishing over twenty books both traditionally and independently. And while I enjoy a give-you-a-toothache, sugary-sweet story, I’ve always wanted to give my characters more. More emotion. More angst. More kisses and definitely more spice.

The books written under Meg Bradley are a perfect blend of romantic comedy and contemporary romance. Every novel has a guaranteed HEA, both in the bedroom and in the love story.

Tessa Finch Isn’t Good Enough: A Romantic Comedy With Anxiety

Relocating from England to ghostwrite a famous artist’s biography, the gap-toothed expat finds that the escape she hoped for hasn’t worked. So when her employer’s seriously handsome son suddenly moves in, she feels her stress skyrocket despite the draw of his grumpy sarcasm.

Dylan Huxley is filthy rich and utterly lost. Back in his childhood home to regroup after selling his start-up for a staggering profit, the tech genius discovers a charming stranger already in residence.
