It has been a whirlwind around our home trying to finish up last minute plans for the Summer because school begins on Monday. Where did the Summer go to? For the past couple of weeks, I have been working on Lesson Plans and Field Trips for next year.
Friday night my family was invited out to Rockwall Summer Musicals to see Music Man.I wanted to bring Charlie with me as the Music Man would be the perfect addition to our Homeschooling lessons this year. Once again the plans I had for my family wasn’t the plans God had for us.
Last Wednesday Charlie and David ran into his friend Kaydan’s mom Kerry and she asked if Charlie would be able to spend the night on Friday. David let me know once he got home and I reminded him we had tickets to see the Music Man. Although I asked Charlie what he wanted to do because he is old enough to chose.
Charlie asked to go to Kaydan’s because he hadn’t been able to see his family since last year because they had moved over the Summer. With school starting on Monday I knew it would be a while before they could spend time together in the Future so I reminded Charlie of the Music Man and he said the play is part of your work mom and also part of my Homeschooling class so I will go with you mom.
I didn’t say anything and went back to work because I wasn’t sure Kerry would even call us. On Thursday my phone rang with a text from Kerry asking if Charlie would be able to spend the night.
I asked Charlie again what he wanted to do and Charlie let me know he would like to go to Kaydan’s. I let Kerry know it would be fine but Charlie would need to be home by 4 pm Saturday as we had another event to attend.
With Charlie leaving to go to his friends it allowed David and I to have a Date Night which we haven’t had in 10 years. I knew this was God’s way of saying I needed to spend time with my husband and to put him first for a change.
Friday came and Charlie left and David surprised me when he offered to take to me shopping so we could get a new outfit to wear. I must say it felt nice to shop for myself for a change and not have to worry about Charlie and what he needed or wanted.
We headed out to Rockwall Summer Musicals and even though it was further than I thought the ride was nice just being able to relax and talk to David. We was able to listen to the radio and music we enjoyed and not be interrupted all the time. Although I did miss Charlie.
Once we arrived at Rockwall Summer Musicals and we went inside the Venue I enjoyed looking at all the Vendors set up and seeing what they had for sale. David bought me a Bundt Cake which was to die for and no, it wasn’t on my diet but it was nice to splurge.
We walked into the Theater and I loved seeing the Orchestra and the Box Seats above. I think it would be fun to sit there the next time we attend a event. Outside the door, we were given our program and they had blankets.
I should have taken a blanket because I always get cold when others don’t and it ends up making me a sneeze. As the show went on I begin to hurt as I was getting too cold although during the Intermission David went and got a blanket for me and I didn’t have any other problems. When we go back like everyone else I will bring a throw blanket for myself and Charlie if he is with us.
Once the Music Man began I could feel myself being drawn into the Musical and I didn’t want it to end. I loved the story line and the main characters. I thought the accent would turn David off but he enjoyed the play and I could see him smiling and laughing from time to time.
As we was leaving David wanted to walk back through the Lobby and look at the past shows they had put together. David asked if I knew what they would be showing next and I let David know I wasn’t sure but I would check.
After we returned home I went to the website and noticed they offer a membership program which David and I plan on looking into because it’s a nice addition to our Homeschooling Curriculum. David said to purchase the plan during Christmas because it’s the perfect Gift to stock our Christmas Stocking with for Charlie as they offer a student membership.
I can’t wait to return to Rockwall, TX to drive through the City and see what businesses are here because we haven’t been to Rockwall before we saw the Music Man. As we was driving David and I saw a restaurants we would like to have dinner at and with Rockwall being about a hour away from our home it’s the perfect Daycation.
