I received a copy of Quack and Daisy published by Aileen Stewart for a review. The thoughts in the review are mine and my families.
Charlie has started 2nd grade this year and is struggling with his reading. One of the reasons is Charlie’s teacher didn’t send books home the way she should have last year Which drove me crazy.
.Before I knew it Summer was gone and I fell down on the job of having Charlie read everyday. This year I want things to be different. I’ve been searching for books which would hold Charlies interest but not be too hard for him to read. Which is why I asked to review Quack and Daisy by Aileen Stewart.
Or to hard for David to help Charlie with if I’m busy David can barely read himself. I was thinking if he helps Charlie reading books that it would help him as well. Not only that it would bring them closer together. The same with Charlie’s sister Leslie who have been butting heads lately.
When Quack and Daisy arrived I asked Charlie to sit down with me and look through the book. Charlie was excited to find out Quack and Daisy comes with a Book Marker.
By using the book maker Charlie will always know where he was in Quack and Daisy. Charlie can use the book mark from Quack and Daisy to show which line he was reading which making it easier for David to follow along with Charlie.
I asked Charlie who he wanted to read Quack and Daisy to. Charlie surprised me he picked my niece who is one. Because Payton would like the Duck inside the book.
No, one takes the time to read to Payton which is true. SWe went down to my mother n laws to see if Payton was there but she wasn’t. We will go back this afternoon for Charlie to read to her.
In the meantime Charlie sat down with me and we read Quack and Daisy together. As Charlie read Quack and Daisy he struggled a little bit but not as much as I thought he would. Once he was finished he asked me if he could take Quack and Daisy to school for his teacher to read to the classroom. I knew enjoyed the book or a lot or he wouldn’t have asked to take it to school.
We talked about the pictures in the book and Charlie thought both the cat and the duck were cute. I asked Charlie which one he liked the best and he said he liked them the same because they were both nice and cute looking. Charlie says he would be both of there friends even though they’re all different.
Charlie and I discussed how the animals were different but could still be friends which led to a discussion of the kids in his room and how they’re different from Charlie. Which I liked as I could tell Charlie learned that being different is OK and doesn’t mean you don’t have to like something.
All in all Quack and Daisy was a huge success and its something we will read again and again. As well as share with our friends and family. We will purchase a couple copies to give to my Niece and to place inside Charlies school library.
I wouldn’t mind adding Quack and Daisy to this years Christmas Gift Guide because its good for boys and girls of all ages. Parents would enjoy the book as well. If you have to purchase a Gift for a teacher I think you should think about Quack and Daisy which would make a nice addition to there classroom.
