Pursuing Peace Through Justice at Core of Compelling Book, The Trial of George W. Bush: A Novel by Terry Jastrow which I received a copy of in exchange for this review
I was going to read Pursuing Peace Through Justice at Core of Compelling Book, The Trial of George W. Bush on my own but then I thought David might enjoy the novel which I showed David. Which David surprised me when he said wouldn’t this be a good book for Charlie to read for his Homeschool History Class.
As I began to thumb through the book I had to agree with David that Charlie should read the book as well. I ended up sitting up time in the morning before David would leave for work to read a couple chapters that we would discuss as a family.
Through the book Charlie was able to learn more about George W, Bush and we added him to our studies on Presidents. We discussed 911 and the Iraq War in our Homeschool History Class. Charlie even found Spelling and Vocabulary words he can use in our Homeschool Spelling Class.
About:
Los Angeles, CA, November 15, 2021 — Imagine a world where humanity turns its attention to making the human condition better by holding political leaders responsible for their corrupt and possibly illegal actions.
In The Trial of George W. Bush, author Terry Jastrow explores the possibility of former President George W. Bush being brought to trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for War Crimes he is accused of committing during the Iraq War. Backed by extensive research and literary skill, Jastrow brilliantly weaves the historical with the fictional, fusing facts and political figures with a creative license that makes imagined events seem credible.
Set during a politically tumultuous period several years after the Iraq War, justice comes calling to right the wrongs committed by Bush during the War. The story follows events that emerged after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America that veered the U.S. Military off course to Iraq instead of searching for Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda in Iran.
Captured on a Scotland golf course and transported to The Hague where he is forced to stand trial at the International Criminal Court, Bush faces life in prison if found guilty. Impassioned prosecutors and seasoned defense lawyers lead a slew of witnesses, including former Bush administration officials and a female Iraqi blogger, who provide eyewitness testimony that fills the courtroom with controversy and unexpected revelation. Steeped in suspense, The Trial of George W. Bush poses the question: can a president mislead a nation into war with impunity, or will the world step up and snuff out political corruption?
Of the importance and timeliness of a novel about former President George W. Bush, Jastrow states, “Most people are aware of the damage caused by the Iraq War: millions of people wounded or killed, trillions of dollars spent, and America’s reputation and standing in the world tarnished, but if we don’t examine our mistakes of the past, we are liable to repeat them in the future.”
With a message advocating the path to peace on earth by holding political leaders accountable, The Trial of George W. Bush is essential reading for understanding why we cannot repeat the mistakes of the past.
