The other day Charlie was going to make Tacos for dinner as part of his Homeschool Cooking Class.. Charlie got all the ingredients out to make Hard Tacos for him using Slider Taco Shells. David he got out Mission Homestyle Tortillas. For me Charlie asked me what I wanted and I said I could make Quesadillas or a Mock Taco Salad.
I was going to go into the kitchen to double check and make sure Charlie had gotten out everything he needed but decided to trust Charlie. Because he wouldn’t learn if I kept looking over his shoulder. I heard Charlie digging out pans. Charlie came and showed me what he was using.
Charlie brought me the Hamburger Meat and asked me to watch him open it. As I’ve taught him to use scissors to cut the package open. I asked Charlie why he needed help and he said he didn’t want to cut himself or mess up. I showed Charlie what to do and he put his meat in the pan.
Charlie turned the pan on to heat it up. Then Charlie placed the Hamburger Meat inside the pan. Charlie says mom. Mom. MOM… I asked Charlie what was wrong and he said was I supposed to use Pam Olive Oil to spray the pan. I reminded Charlie he was. Charlie took the meat back out of the Pan to spray it.
Once the meat began to brown Charlie added El Paso Taco Sauce. As the meat browned Charlie said mom don’t talk to me I’m reading the directions on the Taco Sauce. Charlie says mom it says I should add Water but you don’t. I said sometimes I do. Follow the directions on the jar. Charlie added the Water and finished cooking the Meat.
Charlie says Mom isn’t Puffed Tacos your favorite. I told Charlie they were. As Charlie is cooking I hear him talking to himself. Charlie says okay now I am going to make Puffed Taco Shells. I thought to myself LORD help me. I waited in the Front Room because I was sure Charlie would call me into the kitchen.
But Charlie didn’t he figured out how to Fry the Shells on his own. The Tortilla Shells didn’t puff up the way they should. Charlie made me a Fold Over Taco he said. Inside he put Hamburger Meat and Cheese. Even though the Taco didn’t look that good it was so good and made with Love which is what counts.
Homeschool Puffed Taco A+
