The Chicago-based restaurant is best known for its Chicago-style Hot Dogs, Italian Beef sandwiches, Char-Grilled Burgers, fresh Salads and famous Chocolate cake.
Portillo’s Chicago-style Hot Dogs features a Beef Frank served with Mustard, Relish, freshly chopped Onions, sliced red ripe Tomatoes, celery Salt, Kosher Pickle and sport Peppers piled onto a perfectly steamed Poppy Seed Bun. Chicagoans refer to this as “dragging the dog through the garden.”

Guests can then opt to have it “dipped” in hot Gravy made with Portillo’s homemade blend of Seasonings that they have been perfecting for more than 50 years, or have it served “dry” with just a hint of Gravy. Of course, Portillo’s Italian Beef tastes best topped with its homemade, oven-roasted sweet Peppers or hot Giardiniera Peppers.
In addition, Portillo’s famous homemade, fluffy Chocolate Cake is a true crowd pleaser.
