Poetry for Kids

The Mommies Reviews

My son has been studying poetry in school and it has been a wonderful experience for him. Poetry offers children a wonderful opportunity to explore their emotions and make connections with the world.

I wanted to keep the love of reading and learning new concepts going, so I made this easy spring writing prompt to use at home, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Considering he has instruction and direction with his assignments at school, I like to give his imagination as few guidelines as possible. This printable is perfect for allowing him to express himself yet stay on topic.

To keep the poetry flowing at our house I have been looking for poetry books for kids on amazon. I am an affiliate and this post contains links. Should you make a purchase I will earn a small advertising fee.

Here are a few of my favorite poetry books for children.

Robert Frost for Kids

Where the Sidewalk Ends

The Armpit of Doom : Funny Poems for Kids

Funny School Poems for Kids

Sing a Song of Seasons

Don’t forget to print the free poetry writing prompt for kids below. I would love it if you follow along on pinterest for more free printables, or if you would pin this for another time.

Share it with a friend, or print as many as you need for a classroom. This was a hit with my son, because not only could be write a simple poem, but he could also color for a win/win in expression.
