Charlie, David and I were BLESSED this weekend through CYT Presents Peter Pan with three tickets to see the Musical Peter Pan over the weekend. In exchange for this review and I would like to let you know the thoughts in this review are mine and my families.
Both my daughter and my step daughter Leslie are obsessed with Tinker Bell as I saw the Musical/ Play I knew I wanted to go and see Peter Pan. I had thought of asking Leslie to go with me although both David and Charlie wanted to go see Peter Pan. We went as a family and I am so glad we did as I was able to share a part of Suzzane with David and Charlie.
Once Peter Pan begin I was mesmerized and didn’t move the whole time the Musical was on. Neither did David or Charlie. From the first moment Tinker Bell appeared on the stage I was in love with Peter Pan. I never wanted the Musical to end. Charlie, David and I all would have liked to bring Tinkerbell and Captain Hook home with us.
I loved walking into the Lobby and finding pictures we could purchase along with Tinkerbell’s Flower Shop. Charlie and I loved being able to purchase a necklace with Fairy Dust and a Wand to help keep Peter Pan aleve which reminded me when Suzzie was little and I took her to Disney On Ice to see Peter Pan. I can tell you I believe Suzzie was sitting on my shoulder during Peter Pan. I could hear Suzzie laughing at times as well as crying some. Which I did at times not because Peter Pan was bad but because it was coming to a end.

This new musical version emphasizes themes of home, faith, and family. Join Wendy and her brothers as they learn important life lessons, and enjoy Peter Pan and his clan of lost boys fight off Captain Hook and his crew of silly pirates. This show’s beautiful music, charming lyrics, and dancing pirates will leave you wanting to come again and again to experience its magic!
Tinker Bell Peter Pan’s loyal fairy companion, feisty and unpredictable. A strong female, must be skilled in mime, similar to the Mute in The Fantasticks, speaks in sign and motions. Must be willing to fly. OMG The actor playing Tinkerbell stole my heart I wanted to bring her home with me. Her facial impressions was spot on. Tinkerbell didn’t need words as we could feel all she was telling us just through her words. I could have just watched Tinkerbell and been happy because the other characters wasn’t needed when Tinkerbell was on Stage.
Wendy a young girl on the verge of womanhood, caught between the desire to stay innocent and the longing to mature. 13 – 15 years old. Strong singer/actor. Charlie loved Wendy and let me know he would like to have her for his own sister. David said he would like to have heard the stories she told her brothers. You could tell she was torn and it pulled on your heartstrings. I loved her accent and would have listened to it all day long.
John a young boy, longs to be a leader. Intelligent, somewhat geeky. 11 – 12 years old. Charlie let me know he could see him and John becoming friends or even brothers it it was God’s will and he would have been happy having John in his life. As he liked his accent and seeing the expressions John put into his part. Charlie also liked knowing they was the same age.
Michael a little boy, precocious, cute. 8 – 10 years old. I love Michael because in a lot of ways he reminded me of Charlie when he was little. I could see us having Michael over to spend the night and Charlie becoming small again instead of always trying to grow up. I would have taken his Teddy Bear in a moment as he was so cute
Mr. Darling the Father of Wendy, John, and Michael. Strong actor/singer. Can double as Captain Hook. Charlie and I thought the Actor did a wonderful job portraying a father although he isn’t a father we would like to have. Although he was strong and only wanted the best for his children.
Mrs. Darling a beautiful wife of Mr. Darling. Nurturing, tender, adores her children. British accent. Charlie thought she was so pretty and I did as well. We could feel her love for her children and that she wanted the best for her children. With my mom being gone I wouldn’t mind having Mrs. Darling as my own mom and Charlie let me know he didn’t want her as his mom because he has me but would like to have her as one of his Aunts.
Captain Hook the leader of the pirates, and Peter Pan’s nemesis, fueled by revenge, unyielding in his pursuit. Dry sense of humor a plus. I loved Captain Hook and so did Charlie. I wish I could have brought Captain Hook home with us and Charlie wanted to save him from Peter Pan. Because even though Captain Hook was the bad man we still feel in love with Captain Hook and he became one of our favorite characters.
Smee local comical sidekick to Captain Hook. I loved her comedy style and so did Charlie and David. David let me know Smee was his favorite character because she was funny. I agreed with David and let him know Smee reminded me of David in a way. I could hear Charlie coming up with jokes to go with Smees if they was together.
Tiger Lily Brave daughter of Indian Chief. Princess of Neverland. Strong, resilient, not afraid to stand up to adversity. Speaks in broken English although we didn’t have any trouble understanding Tiger Lily. Charlie let me know Peter Pan should marry Tiger Lily as she would be good for Peter Pan. I thought she was pretty and I loved her acting and would have watched her all day if I could have.
I would like to let you know there is lots of other characters but I didn’t want to tell you all about them because I believe you should take your friends and family to see Peter Pan. I asked Charlie what they thought and they agreed with me and if we hadn’t had other plans this weekend we would have went back on Sunday.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
