I would like to share a children’s book with you One Smart Cookie: (A Graphic Novel) (Norma and Belly)by Mika Song in exchange for this review.
It’s hard to believe I found a children’s book One Smart Cookie: David can read almost all on his own with minimal help from Charlie and me. Once David finished the book, he had the funniest look on his face. Then he asked me if he was allowed to ask Charlie to make certain foods in his homeschool class.
I let David know he was able to and the next thing I knew David was asking Charlie to make Fortune Cookies and help him write fortunes to go inside the cookies. Which will bring them closer together, but I will pass on the cookie and the fortune because there is no, telling what two men would write on the strips of paper.
Charlie told his dad he couldn’t help until he had a chance to read the book which Charie did this evening. Charlie let me know he loved the illustrations, and the story kept him entertained and he didn’t want the book to end. Once Charlie finished the story he acted it out for David and I in his Homeschool Drama Class and now Charlie wants to try and find a Squirrel for a pet. Lord help me…
Charlie and David said One Smart Cookie is for upper middle school students, but younger children might think the pictures are funny. David said to let you know adults would enjoy the story which will remind them of the comic books they read as children. I like how the story brought David and Charlie closer together and brought them into the kitchen to make dessert as a family.
In the meantime, once you finish reading One Smart Cookie you will also want to check out the other adventures of Norma and Belly! in the following books Donut Feed The Squirrels, Apple Of My Pie and Pizza My Heart which Charlie can’t wait to read on the night he makes Pizza for us. Would you like to come to dinner?
About the book:
Silly snack-hunting squirrels Norma and Belly are back! Don’t miss their latest hilarious cookie caper in the fourth comic in this award-winning and Eisner-nominated series.
If you had a fortune cookie fortune that read: “Feed this cookie to a squirrel” would you, do it? Norma thinks you would! And she quickly she gets to work devising a plan with friends Belly and Little B to sneak through the MR. FORTUNE cookie factory to get their own fortunes squirreled away inside of the treats.
Follow along on another spectacular caper that goes (definitely not) exactly as planned. With high tech climbing gear (suction cups), computer hacking (lucky password guessing), and squirrels in spy suits, they might just pull this one off and get that sweet, sweet (cookie) reward.
