October 3rd is National Boyfriend Day #NationalBoyfriendDay for me this is a easy #Holiday to celebrate because not only is David my husband but my #boyfriend from High School. I would like to let David know how much I appreciate him not only today but everyday of my life for the rest of my life.
As well as thanking Charlie for following in his dads footsteps and treating his girlfriend Mikalia Archer like a Queen and also her family. I also would like to give a shout-out to Charlie’s friends Tim and Bradley just incase there #girlfriends don’t thank them today because I also see how they treat there girlfriends and I am so proud of them.
We’re making 2020 the year that National Boyfriend Day officially becomes a really big “thing!” As far as we can tell, National Boyfriends Day is a totally internet-generated phenomenon. The first reference we found is mentioned as Boyfriend Day, probably dated to October 4, 2014. But National Boyfriend Day seems to gain traction by March 2016 with over 46,000 tweets!
Although there’s no sole officially-credited source that initiated National Boyfriend Day, some smart person probably realized boyfriends didn’t have their own acknowledged Holiday and came up with this great idea. Why not? Girlfriends have their own day!
National Girlfriends Day is celebrated every August 1st and this Holiday was launched as a promotional tool for a book by Kathleen Laing and Elizabeth Butterfield, called “Girlfriends Getaway,” which was published in 2002.
For those who are new to Girlfriends Day, it’s a special holiday for hanging with your crew of ladies or, guys, doing something extra special for that favored lady in your life. Celebrate with gifts, a special outing or just that quality time that means so much.
National Boyfriend Day is increasing in its popularity, not only domestically but around the world. Let’s keep National Boyfriend Day going so that great boyfriends get the love and appreciation they so richly deserve every year.
A dual celebration
As National Boyfriend Day was created due to the popularity of National Girlfriend Day, then it’s important to point out that National Girlfriend Day was originally created as a way for women to celebrate and hang out with their gal pals. The holiday’s purpose evolved over time and now it is seen as a dual celebration where people celebrate both their romantic girlfriends and also their platonic friendships too.
With that in mind, we suggest that National Boyfriend Day doesn’t have to be all about showing love and affection for your male romantic partner. You can be showing your appreciation for male pals too. So, even if you’re not anyone’s romantic boyfriend, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate National Boyfriend Day.
Traditions
Traditions for National Boyfriend Day vary from couple to couple. The bottom line is to hype up the guy who supports and loves us through the best and worst of times, and to appreciate him for being a good boyfriend.
Some common traditions include gifting thoughtful presents, including cooking your boyfriend’s favorite meal, getting tickets to his favorite concert or game, spending a fun day doing activities that the two of you enjoy, and of course, posting a picture of him on Social Media. Remember boys don’t hear it enough, so be sure to express your sentiments verbally and display small intimate gestures.
National Boyfriend Day Activities
- If you have the opportunity take advantage of a Groupon or other deal. That way you can check out a new restaurant or one you wouldn’t normally be able to afford. You’ll save money but you won’t skimp on fun!
- Get a professional photo of both of you and make it sexy! Sometimes a selfie just won’t do. You can still find reasonably priced studio photographers online.
- Hit the Skating Rink on an 80s night and learn to skate backwards! Wear your shortest shorts and let your man know why you chose him. Then get your groove on.
The Steamiest Love Songs To Slow dance With Your Boyfriend
- The song, “Always and Forever” has been melting hearts since the song was first recorded by Heatwave in 1976 and later by the great Luther Vandross in 1994.
- If you love some Country Music, slow dance to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on “The Rest of Our Lives.”
- Beyonce’s “Slow Love” tells you exactly what she would do with her boyfriend!
- One of the hottest, steamiest songs to hit the airwaves in years is the collab between Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in “Shallow.” This song smokes so much, that everyone wants to know if this is a real-life couple but only time will tell!
- “Rapture” by song stylist, Anita Baker, just sizzles with sensuality. Put this on for your boyfriend and remember we told you so!
Why We Celebrate National Boyfriend Day (Part 2)
- Whether it’s picking you up for a date, fixing things around your apartment, or offering to pay for dinner, the best boyfriends try hard to make a good impression. They know relationships need work and effort, no matter how long you two have been together. So, show your man some love today!
- Everyone needs a “partner in crime” and boyfriends are usually up to the task. A great boyfriend doesn’t just listen to your stories he makes himself an accomplice to the protagonist: you! Whether you need a buddy to go to the Taco Stand across the street or to travel halfway across the world, your boyfriend is always by your side, adding to your story. Thank you, boyfriends of the world, for always being there!
- Your boyfriend may not admit it, but he, too, gossips with his “boys.” If you’ve got a burning secret, trust your boyfriend to lend a safe ear! Bonus: because you’re his sweetie, if you’re in the middle of a dispute, you can “take it to the bank” that your boyfriend will always take your side!
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
