October 12th is National Costume Swap Day #CostumeSwapDay with #Halloween right around the corner today is the perfect day to celebrate National Costume Swap Day. For the first time in a long time Charlie is planning on dressing up this year.
David and I are taking Charlie and his friends to Denton, Texas to check out Thirty One Day of Denton Halloween this week. David and I went last week and has so much fun. I can’t wait to return with the kids and see what they think of Denton.
I really want to move there but I can’t get David to but once Charlie see’s the Town and all of the cute Store and events they have going on it might change Charlie’s mind. My question is how on Earth am I supposed to take all the kids? My car won’t hold everyone unless you want to come with us and take one or two of the kids for David and I. I will buy you lunch or dinner if I need to.
Join my family because every second Saturday in October is National Costume Swap Day. This year National Costume Swap Day falls on October 12th. People are going to make sure that your favorite character comes to life.
Did you know costumes have been around for many years. Costumes acted as a cultural image of people from different parts of the world. The term costume was also used to describe typical appropriate clothing for certain activities, including swimming costume, riding costume, and evening costume.
With Halloween around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about pulling together your costumes. People love to dress up in there favorite costumes, events like Comic-con and Cosplay trends prove that to be true.
The idea of dressing up as your favorite Superhero or Villain, or even your favorite character from a movie or a book excites us as it gives us a chance to play out our fantasies. National Costume Swap Day is the perfect answer to peoples prayers.
However exciting the idea may be, like everything else on this planet, these costumes come at a price. Living out these fantasies can burn a hole in your pocket, not to mention the wastage of resources. To counter this problem, in 2012, Lynn Colwell and her daughter, Corey Colwell-Lipson, of GreenHalloween.org created Costume Swap Day as a part of their Green Halloween movement. This was an effort to promote an economical and ecological way to dress for Halloween.
The swaps can be costumes that are home-stitched, store-bought, or patched together, anything goes, the objective is to save more and waste less. It’s not just an effort to save on costumes for trick-or-treating, even theatre troupes can join in on the swaps, just before the Fall drama season begins.
Costume Swap Day presents an amazing opportunity to live out your fantasies without spending any big bucks. Costume Swapping Day comes just a few weeks before Halloween, which is a great way to start the holidays. So gather with family, colleagues, or neighbors and spread some joy around, while keeping your savings intact.
