Life gets in the way at times and October 27th, was National Pumpkin Day. I had meant to pick up Pumpkins for my family to carve. But not feeling well I didn’t make it. But there is still time so I thought I would share tips I was sent with you if your still carving Pumpkins.
pumpkin-carving is an adored autumn activity from coast to coast, jack-o-lanterns can become serious bug magnets for pests like cockroaches, ants and fruit flies.
As pumpkins begin to decay, your Halloween décor can go from festive to infested quickly – so I thought you may be interested in sharing unexpected tips to help keep creepy crawlies from invading your pumpkins this year courtesy of insect control brand, Raid.
Tips for a Pest-Free Pumpkin:
- Bugs are most attracted to the pulp inside our Pumpkin. The more thorough you are when cleaning out your Jack-o-lantern, the less likely pests will invade.
- Candles produce heat when placed inside a Pumpkin and contribute to internal rotting. Instead, try using battery-operated LED lights to make your Jack-o-lantern glow.
- Keep your Pumpkins out of direct Sunlight, as Sun exposure will accelerate decomposition. Keep Pumpkins in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture when possible.
- Keep your porch Pumpkins away from doors and windows to create distance from pests trying to enter your home.
- If Pumpkin-loving pests manage to make their way into your home, using pet and kid-safe Raid Essentials, when applied correctly, can help ward off those unwelcome pest trick-or-treaters.
