Why We Love National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
- It’d be hard to argue that Hot Fudge Sundaes are culinary masterpieces. The simplest Hot Fudge Sundaes are often the best. Especially when the Hot Fudge Sundae is so easy to put together. But sometimes, it’s the simplicity that makes something great, which is the case with the Hot Fudge Sundae.
- =How many things can kids born a hundred years apart appreciate together? Regardless of whether you were born in 1910 or 2010, chances are that you’ve got fond memories of a Hot Fudge Sundaes from our youth.
- You can make anything expensive if you’d like to, but Sundaes can be made with cheap ingredients. If you’re on a budget, stick with the classic: Hot Fudge, Vanilla Ice Cream, Chopped Walnuts, and don’t forget to top the Sundae with a Maraschino Cherry.
Five Facts Fudge:
- Fudge is a type of Western confectionery which is usually very sweet, and rich. Fudge is made by mixing Sugar, Butter, and Milk and heating these ingredients to the soft-ball stage at 240 °F (116 °C). Then beating the mixture while it cools so that it acquires a smooth, creamy consistency.
- The components of Fudge are very similar to the traditional recipe for tablet, which is noted in The Household Book of Lady Grisell Baillie (1692-1733).
- The term “Fudge” is often used in the United Kingdom for a softer variant of the tablet recipe.
- American-style Fudge containing Chocolate is found in a letter written by Emelyn Battersby Hartridge, a student at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
- Word of this popular confectionery spread to other women’s colleges. For example, Wellesley and Smith have their own versions of a Fudge recipe dating from the late 19th or early 20th Century.
