National Day of the Cowboy

My dad has always been an avid reader of westerns and my dad loves anything by Louis Lamar. During the Holidays and my dad’s Birthday, I have always made it a point to purchase books for him. As you all know I am also an avid reader as well although I prefer romances.  I haven’t been able to purchase any new books I decided I would check into this review for Tomoson. The review is called National Day of the Cowboy and through it, I would be able to read a new book called The No-Gun Man.

Through the review for National Day of the Cowboy, it would allow me to review from 1 to 15 different Westerns. I chose to read all of the Westerns when they arrived my dad was here visiting so I let him read the books with me. We both enjoyed the books and have since gone out and reread a couple of them. I asked my dad if this would be something he would like to do in the Future and he said yes and I also agreed with my dad especially if he is here as it gave us something to do together.

Through this new service, I found several new Authors that I thoroughly enjoyed reading there books and I will be looking for more of there work. As my dad also enjoyed there writing and I can get him there books for the Holidays and his Birthday. If you haven’t had a chance to check these books I hope you do. As I am sure you will enjoy them just as much as my dad and I did.

The first book my dad and I chose to read was No-Gun Man and like it says it did remind me of Jimmy Stewart. Which both of my dad and I liked as we love his acting and Jimmy Stewart in one of mine and my dads all time favorite movies.  I asked my dad what he thought of No-Gun Man and he said he loved the storyline and that he also loved the author’s style of writing and he can’t wait to read more of there books if they have any more out. My dad also says he could see himself in the book which made him enjoy it more than normal.

No-Gun Man: “As principled as a young Jimmy Stewart, it’s only a question of how far Monte will be pushed before he pushes back . . . with a vengeance.”

As a young man, Monte Calhoun was as wild as they come, thinking the measure of a man was how hard he could drink and how straight he can shoot. But several years of schooling back East have changed him. Now, as steadfast and principled as a young Jimmy Stewart, Monte has become The No-Gun Man. The East Coast has civilized him, and he’s bringing some of that civilization home to Superstition, Arizona . . . even if it means refusing to avenge the murder of his own father. Monte’s come back for one reason – to rescue his younger brother from this lawless land and take him back East. But out here in a land of frauds and outlaws and ambushes, a man’s principles have a way of folding under pressure – especially in the face of gunfire. And Monte’s no different. It’s only a question of how far he’ll be pushed before he starts pushing back . . . with a vengeance.
