The Mommies Reviews

This evening I would like to share a new book with you. The book is called My Culinary Love Story: How Food and Love Led to a New Life which is written by Pauline Parry a new author for my family to check out. I was sent a copy of My Culinary Love Story in exchange for this review.

My Culinary Love Story: How Food and Love Led to a New Life is the perfect romance story for foodies of all levels. I\m so happy I found out about Pauline Parry who has become one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to check out other books by Pauline Parry. I hope you will do the same. Especially if you enjoy cooking as the book is peppered with recipes throughout the story.

My Culinary Love Story: How Food and Love Led to a New Life takes us on a journey from the UK to America and leading up the Author Pauline Parry moving to California from England with Pauline’s two young children. It is amazing what Pauline and Dennis have accomplished as a couple and they make you fall in love with love.

Pauline Parry and Dennis are talented entrepreneurs who are loads of fun!! Charlie and I fell in love with all the illustrations of the food. Although the romance which you will find in the book is for girls. Charlie said you should skip that part of the book. LOL What can I say other than boys don’t like girls. Even if they are turning 16.

If your not careful My Culinary Love Story: How Food and Love Led to a New Life will have you wanting to go into the kitchen and cook. Thank God David doesn’t mind cooking and Charlie is taking a Home Economics Homeschool Cooking Class. Charlie will be able to prepare the recipes inside the book for us.

The recipes are mostly European classics which I know David will not mind trying out but I’m not so sure about Charlie. Although as easy as the recipes are to prepare it shouldn’t frustrate Charlie when I ask him to prepare the recipes for us. Although you will have to pull me out of the section talking about the gastro pub movement in England which I would like to take a closer look at with David. Would you like to come with us?

With Charlie we could take a look at the unfolding of the California Beach culture which I’ve always wanted to visit. Would you like to come with me? Like David you will find out Dennis is always by Pauline Parry side through it all. It’s nice to see Dennis shares her interest in food and family. Now if you will excuse David and I were going to make Shepard’s Pie which I’ve always wanted to try. Would you like to join us for dinner?

In a quaint English market town in the 1980s, Pauline Parry finds herself a divorced mother of two small children. A chance encounter leads her to a new life, one that begins in the most unlikely of places – a flat above a restaurant. There, she soon realizes her true calling as a culinary explorer, ready to embrace a passion for food that will guide her for life. But cooking isn’t the only passion that Pauline discovers. As her professional rise takes her from Michelin-starred castle restaurants to California’s famed Napa Valley, she’s joined on the journey by Dennis, a handsome craftsman and confirmed bachelor – that is, until he meets Pauline.

About the Author: Pauline Parry

Pauline Parry founded Good Gracious! Events in 1983, the culmination of a passion for hospitality and food that began in a small bistro in England. Following a stint at a Michelin-starred restaurant in a castle, it was clear that food, fun and love was part of her DNA.

After moving to California with her husband Dennis and her two children, her talent for entertaining, imaginative menus and creative design quickly transformed Good Gracious! Events into one of the nation’s premier catering firms. Pauline herself was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Events and Weddings and continues to mentor younger chefs and business owners.

When her daughter, Chef Joanne Purnell, joined her at the helm of Good Gracious! Events, Pauline began to put her talents down in writing. First with Food, Fun and Love: Party Styles, and next with her debut memoir, My Culinary Love Story, a nostalgic look back at her culinary apprenticeship and the early days of her romance with Dennis.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
