I would like to share a story about my mom and what happened in her doctor’s office. My mother had been sick for a little bit, but I was in Texas, and she was in Oklahoma. I didn’t know about my mom being ill and neither my sister or brother said anything to my dad or me. So she went to the doctor on her own, and her doctor misdiagnosed her with Cancer Or he might have told her, and she didn’t tell us. We will never know as no, one took the time to attend her visit with her.
My mom was living on Tums as her stomach was always bothering her then my moms back begin to hurt. When my mother went to the doctor, he told her it was just Acid Reflex and that her Bleeding Ulcer was acting up. She would have to wait as there was nothing they could do.
Instead of getting better my mother ended up getting worse finally my dad saw what was happening and ended up making my mother go to the emergency room. By the time she got there, they had admitted her immediately. The doctor didn’t even wait for paperwork to be filled out. I think he knew what it was as soon as they walked in.
Once settled in her room, the doctor came in to talk to my parents and find out what had been happening. He asked my parent’s several questions as he thought they were together. Although they weren’t my dad was just kind enough to bring her to the hospital.
My dad stood there and listened, and was upset at the things he heard. He didn’t understand why my brother hadn’t said anything or had her admitted to the hospital.
The doctor let them know he had several tests to be run. As soon as the results came back, he went to the doctor let my parents know she had Cancer. Which had spread through several areas and that it had progressed so far that there was nothing they could do.
My mom called me herself to let me know. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I never thought my mom would get Cancer. Why my mom why now I still needed and wanted her to be here for me and to see Charlie grow up.
My question is if the Doctors office had requested some tests ran could they have caught the Cancer and been able to treat it. Or did the doctors know it was Cancer and they couldn’t do anything, so they didn’t say anything at all?
I would like to know anyone you know misdiagnosed with an illness. If it turned out to be wrong and could have cost the life of my mom’s was? If so what did you do about it?
If aren’t sure what to do then I would like to invite you to check out this site that will help you decide if you have a case or not. If so what you should and shouldn’t do.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
