Mighty Book

One thing I have been neglecting in Charlie’s classroom is having Charlie do research and write out report papers. I plan on changing that and getting Charlie to research one person a week. Charlie enjoys Art I plan on incorporating it n the reports Charlie writes out. As he can turn the reports into short stories to share with your family.
This week Charlie and I will be using art in our studies through a new website I found called Mighty Book. We will research Van Gogh because Charlie wants to look up some of the painting he painted. If you know anything about Van Gogh please come and share it with us. Or if you know where we can find items on him I would like to ask if you would share them with us as well.
Children sing songs, read stories, play games, hear jokes and solve puzzles while they learn to read and speak English.
Age Range: 5-10 (Grades K-4, with parental supervision)
This commercial website offers the opportunity to access a variety of illustrated, animated, and narrated children’s online books that introduce kids to works of art masters set to the music of classical composers.
When you get to the site you will see links to these online engaging art and music books:
  • Carnival of Harlequin – Drag and drop puzzles pieces to assemble the whimsical art of Joan Miro while listening to the airy sounds of Tchaikovsky. Links in this booklet you learn more about the artist and composer through pictures and narration.
  • And much more.
When viewing these free sample books, you will also see some random advertisements. Parents, as always, should supervise Internet use. (This company does offer the books without advertising for a paid membership.)

When you’re through exploring the Art and Music section, check out some of the other free online activity books also available on this site.

Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
