It’s been a while since David and I’ve dressed up and gone on a true date together and I miss those times. Just as much as I miss having a Girls Night out but finding out May 16 National Mimosa Day #MimosaDay gives me the opportunity to invite David out on a Date Night and we can try a Mimosa which I’ve never had. Then I can set up a Girls Night Out and we can also try Mimosa’s at a favorite restaurant,. If your in DFW do you have a favorite place to get a Mimosa?
Brunch enthusiasts and cocktail fanatics May 16th is National Mimosa Day! A Mimosa is a classic mixed drink, which is equal parts Brut Champagne and Fruit Juice normally Orange Juice which has become a brunch staple and a popular drink at weddings. Mimosa’s date back to the 1920s and most likely got its name from the a yellow flower native to Australia. With a variety of ways to add a twist to Mocktails, it’s fun and easy to celebrate this drink we all find so tasty.
NATIONAL MIMOSA DAY ACTIVITIES
- Mimosas and brunch go together like Eggs and Bacon, or Pancakes and Syrup, or Orange Juice and Champagne. May 16 falls on a Thursday this year but don’t let a workday stop you from enjoying a Mimosa. If you can’t pull off brunch then have breakfast for dinner! French toast and Mimosas will help you get through National Mimosa Day.
- Mimosas don’t always have to be made with Orange Juice you can try substituting Orange Juice with your favorite Fruit Juice instead. Anything from Cranberry, Grapefruit, and even Blueberry Juice is great with Champagne. Get creative and you can toss a Berries or Fruit slices in as well to give your Mimosa extra flavor and make your beverage look even prettier.
- If you are under 21 or would simply prefer a non-alcoholic option then you’re in luck because Mimosas are just as tasty and refreshing when substituting Ginger Ale for Champagne. Or you can use Sparkling Juices, including Sparkling Apple Cider, are also good substitutes for Champagne.
WHY WE LOVE NATIONAL MIMOSA DAY
- Many Cocktails require several ingredients, and you may even need to purchase a shakers, and other items that many of us don’t have in our kitchens. While making a Mimosa is quick and simple! Just pour your chilled Juice of choice in a glass of any kind but to make the drink fancier you could use a Champagne Flute if you’re feeling fancy then pour in the Champagne. Remember you don’t have to break the bank if you want to purchase a Champagne Flute a lot of Dollar Tree Stores sell Champagne Flutes and Wine Glasses.
- Did you know people feel fancy when we drink Mimosa’s even thought they are simple they are to make. There’s something about a Mimosa that just makes us feel classier. Do you think it’s the Champagne Flute, or the Champagne itself. Maybe color and light, bubbly taste. or how pretty the name sounds.
- Mimosas most frequently appear at Weddings, on flights for First Class Passengers, or our beloved brunch, Mimosa’s are not limited to these occasions. Mimosa’s are great on a hot Summer day. Cozy snow days stuck in the house become even better when snuggled up with a Mimosa or even two and Mimosas are a lovely drink to have during the holidays including New Year’s Eve. Mimosa is a great, year round drink which can make any occasion better.
