I would like to share a new self- help book for parents called Maximise your Child’s Happiness: A concise guide to protecting their mental health (Maximise your Child’s Experience Series) by Jennie Segar (Author), I received in exchange for this review. Check out the Press Release.

I would do anything like more parents to make sure Charlie is happy but I don’t think I’m doing a good job. I knew things needed to change or Charlie would become more withdrawn. Since Covid its harder than pulling teeth to get Charlie to go outside. Or even do anything inside our home. I know he is 16 and this is normal with teenagers but if Charlie had to go to public school he would fail.

I know Charlie says he would like to get a job but I’m not sure he will be able to handle being around people. I also don’t know how he is going to handle driving. As for getting Charlie into counseling without insurance we can’t do it. Everyone says apply for Medicaid but we make to much. I watch Charlie withdraw more and more.

I received the Press Release for the book and as I read it I felt like the LORD was drawing me to read the book. I’m so glad I did because the story has helped me not only with Charlie but myself as well. I’ve gotten Charlie and David to research Mental Health and now instead of hiding our feelings we talk about them.

We make it a point to get out of our home each and day and to talk to someone. We don’t hide in our rooms anymore. We know sit down at the dinning room table and prepare dinner as a family. The book is sitting on our Coffee table and we open it and work through the things we learned at least once a day.

If we hear one of us using negative words or phrases we ask them to stop and count to 10 and then begin again. I’ve noticed Charlie smiling more and even our dogs seem happier. I can never thank the artist enough for writing this book and giving me my family back. I believe Charlie will succeed at a job and driving and I feel like I’ve gotten my family back.

Every parent wants their child to be happy but it’s not always easy to know how to help children find the confidence, contentment and resilience they need in order to experience true happiness.

When my own children were growing up, I searched for material online and in bookshops to help me navigate my way through the seas of parenthood, and I couldn’t find a source with a comprehensive set of proven suggestions and techniques to help my children find happiness. This is why I wrote this book.

Based on scientific research, Maximise your Child’s Happiness contains activities and processes which parents can work through with their children to maximise their happiness. Children will learn to appreciate their unique strengths by doing activities which build emotional understanding and increase resilience. There are suggestions on how to approach difficult topics with children and protect them when times are hard. Finally, there is a section on ways in which children can harness their own bodies to give them a feel good factor when needed.

My sincere wish is that the information contained in these pages gives parents, just like me, ways in which they can help their children grow into confident, secure, happy people.

About the author: Jennie Segar

Maximise your Child’s Happiness: A concise guide to protecting their mental health (Maximise your Child’s Experience Series)
Maximise your Child’s Happiness: A concise guide to protecting their mental health (Maximise your Child’s Experience Series)

Jennie has been an educator for over 30 years, specialising most recently in preparing students for the rigours of the highly competitive examination process of the UK school entry at 7+, 11+ and 13+. Prior to this, she worked as a classroom teacher in both primary and secondary schools in private and state sectors. She also spent a number of years working as a peripatetic music teacher with students of all ages, and has worked with families as a governess and nanny, travelling all over the world in these roles.

Jennie has two lovely children who have inspired and educated her most of all throughout her life. They are the reason she decided to write her latest book, Maximise your Child’s Performance, as she wanted to pass on all the amazing things she had learnt on her educator’s journey.

Jennie was lucky enough to do her first degree at Oxford University, and has done a number of additional degrees since that time. She is qualified to teach both arts and sciences.

Jennie is passionate about seeing equality in the education system and would like the educational opportunities she has been fortunate to receive to be open to all, regardless of a child’s socioeconomic background. Her hope is that her book will help parents and carers optimise their child’s capabilities in order for us all to move a step closer to this goal.

Jennie lived for many years in and around London but now resides in the heart of the Lake District. She continues to support her students by tutoring them online. She has two adorable dogs, loves walking them on the fells most days and enjoys playing tennis surrounded by the beauty of where she lives.
