It’s Monday, June 17, 2019, and time for Math Resources. I would like to invite you to check out the Recommended Websites: If you have used these resources let me know what you thought of them and why.

e-Learning for Kids
Age Range: 5-12 (Grades K-6, with parental supervision) This website is from a global, nonprofit foundation dedicated to fun and free learning on the internet for children ages 5 – 12.

There are hundreds of Math e-Lessons on this learning portal. The lessons are intended as supplemental material: designed to support a full curriculum and provide additional practice.

Once you have explored the Math World portal, check out the rest of the website because these people provide lessons for children ages 5-12 in Science, Environmental Skills, Computer Skills, Health, Language Arts, and Life Skills. Bookmark this site and come often!
Visual Fractions
Age Range: 9-14 (Grades 4-9 approximately, with parental supervision)

This website provides free visual pictures, images, graphs, and animations of fractions and operations with fractions, to make them easier to understand and fun to practice.

Through the use of interactive exercises and visual aids (like number lines and circle graphs), students can learn how to:
Identify fractions
Rename fractions
Compare fractions
Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions

The concepts are demonstrated through the visual images and explained in text format. Then, the student can practice their understanding with an interactive drill session.

Click on any topic from the menu in the middle of the home page and a new page opens with instructions for how to use the animations, graphs, and number lines to learn the fraction concept. In most instances you are shown a visual image and asked to type in the corresponding fraction.

Back on the main page, under “Special Features” you can access the “Fractions Games Page” to enhance learning. Don’t miss the free, printable “Fractions Worksheets that really demonstrate operations with fractions in an engaging way.

Parents may want to read the “About” page for tips on how to use the site effectively.

This is a really simple and easy to use resource that will improve students’ skills in understanding fractions and their operations.
Enjoy!

Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
