March 10 National Blueberry Popover Day #BlueberryPopoverDay

The Mommies Reviews

March 10 is National Blueberry Popover Day #BlueberryPopoverDay. David’s dad hasn’t been feeling the greatest since he took a test at the VA for Dementia and flunked it. In our Homeschool Cooking Class I’m going to ask Charlie if he would like to celebrate today by making Blueberry Popovers for his grandfather who loves Blueberries and also one for his dad who might enjoy a Blueberry Popover which Charlie and I will pass on. How about you. Do you like Blueberries? How about Blueberry Popovers?

National Blueberry Popover Day is celebrated annually on March 10. Did you know the Blueberry Popover is the American variant of the British Yorkshire Pudding, which was introduced in the 17th Century? Popovers are often baked in a small pan or dedicated Popover pans that have straight-walled sides and can be filled with Custards, Creams, and Fruits for added flavor.

A Popover is a quick Bread baked using Egg batter. A Popover consist of Eggs, Milk, Flour, and Salt. Popover is baked in small pans that are tall and separated from one another, to provide even heat distribution. When baked, Popovers form airy rolls that puff up, popping over the edge of the tin. On the outside, Popovers light and crispy, but on the inside, Popovers are warm and often hollow.

Blueberry Popover first gained popularity in America in the 19th Century, and the Blueberry Popover has only grown in popularity since then, spreading to other Countries throughout the world. Portland Popover Pudding is one of its versions, and it’s cooked with Garlic and Herbs, with additional American adaptations including Pumpkin Puree in place of some of the Flour and the inclusion of spices like Nutmeg.

When making Popovers, combining room temperature Eggs and Milk yields the finest results. A thin batter with ample air to rise when baked. The steam expands the batter more, causing it to puff up and pop over the tin. The Egg protein keeps the pastry in form, and the crust ultimately becomes flaky and golden.

Blueberry Popovers are a delicious breakfast option that may also be served with your favorite drinks for lunch or dinner. Blueberry Popovers are transformed into delectable savory buns by the addition of Herbs and meat. However, Blueberry Popovers are best served with Blueberries on the inside for a scrumptious treat.
