Magical Jungle: An Inky Expedition and Coloring Book for Adults Paperback (Review)

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share a adult coloring book called Magical Jungle: An Inky Expedition and Coloring Book for Adults Paperback by Johanna Basford. Inside this post is my affiliate links. If you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage off the products you purchase.

I purchased this coloring book for Charlie because he used to enjoy coloring and I thought it might relax Charlie and allow us to spend time together. Magical Jungle is full of flowers for us to color which will keep both adults and children busy for hours on end. Would you like to join us in coloring a page or two?

The Author has hidden things inside the book for us to find which is a Scavenger Hunt our family can do to spend time together and get us off electronics and away from the tv. Once we find what the Author ask us to find then my family Charlie can go outside and look for those items getting families up and moving which we all need to do more of. There is a color palette in the back of the book to test out our pencils and colors before we begin coloring.

Once Charlie finishes coloring the pages we can share them on Social Media using #MagicalJungle Would you like to share your page if you come and color with us? I like how the Author reminded us its okay if we go out of the lines. There is Elephants and Monkeys in the coloring book which are my favorite animals that I can’t wait to color.

About the author: Johanna Basford

I’m on a mission to inspire the world to be creative!

Tumble down the rabbit hole and find yourself in my inky black and white Wonderland… I’m an illustrator and ink evangelist who prefers pens and pencils to pixels. I create intricate, hand drawn illustrations that adorn colouring books, coffee cups, trainers, walls, beer bottles and even walls!

My creativity is cultivated by a curious imagination and a delight in the fantastic. Much of my work has roots in the flora and fauna that surrounded me growing up on my parent’s fish farm in rural Scotland.

Every piece I create starts life as a simple pencil sketch, evolving into a rambling pen and ink drawing usually spanning several sheets of paper. I love the tactile nature of the materials I use and the joy of smudgy fingerprints. My delicate hand inked designs intend to charm and delight, inviting you to peer closer and discover the hidden intricacies.

For me, computer generated graphics can feel cold and soulless whereas hand drawing captures a sense of energy and character which no pixel can ever replicate. I’m on a mission to vanquish the vector and champion the (wobbly) hand drawn line

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
