Good morning, I’ am’m back with a new children’s book called Little Dumplings Board Book by Jekka Kuhlmann (Author), Krissy Kuhlmann Author, Haley Hazell (Author), Manita Boonyong (Illustrator) who sent me a physical copy of this board book in exchange for this review which is done by family.
I got ready this morning to read the story but before I did, I had fun looking at the cover of the book with all the food’s the Author had to show with us. Although I know Chinese Food has Dumplings when I think of Dumplings I think of Chicken and Dumplings my grandmother used to make for Sunday dinner that I wish I had. How about you. What type of Dumpling would you like to have and why?
Charlie saw the Chopsticks in the picture and asked me if we could get Chinese food for dinner and use Chopsticks. I said that would be fun but then I decided to have Charlie search online for a recipe to make Dumplings in his Homeschool Home Economics Cooking Class. Would you like to join us as we make and serve our Dumplings?
After looking up the recipe for class Charlie sat down to read Little Dumplings in his Homeschool Reading Class. Charlie had fun learning all different cultures have Dumplings to share. Some of them we hadn’t heard of and will be looking them up to prepare this week. Charlie learned words he hadn’t heard of that we can use in our Spelling Class.
I love how the Author reminded us Dumplings are all different but unique just like you and I are. The Author reminded us there is sweet and salty Dumplings which surprised Charlie and I. The Author reminded us they can be filled with Meat, Cheese or Veggies and then Charlie asked me if we could use Fruit which I wasn’t sure about but were going to try it. Would you like to join us?
Dumplings can be Fried which isn’t healthy for me. Baked or steamed. I want to see if I can figure out how to make Dumplings in my Air Fryer. Do you think this can be done? Or have you tried it? I love how the AUTHOR reminds us food can bring us love and compassion. The Author included a indext of Dumplings which Charlie and I can prepare in our Homeschool Cooking Class.
To keep our studies going we can study each State the Dumplings come from. Then we can host a party and use decorations from those Countries to decorate our home in. Instead of purchasing the Dumplings were going to invite our friends and family over to help us prepare the Dumplings. Would you like to join us?

Meet the Authors
Jekka Kuhlmann grew up in a mixed-race, Chinese-American household on an expat compound in the Middle East, where she was surrounded by individuals of nearly 40 nationalities-all of whom had different backgrounds, ethnicities, religious beliefs, and Dumplings in their lunch boxes. An avid traveler who has been to more than 20 Countries, she loves to experience the diversity of the world through something that unites us all: food! When she’s not exploring, Jekka works in sales for technology start-ups and her own consulting agency for fitness and wellness brands. She divides her time between San Francisco, California, and Kauai, Hawaii.
Born and raised in a bi-racial family in upstate New York, Krissy Kuhlmann’s upbringing danced across Korean and American cultures with food at the center of the experience. As an adult, she has sampled street food in Saigon, Sashimi in Tokyo, Goat in the Kenyan bush, Braii Cheese in Cape Town, Chicken Wings in Buffalo, and Crab Cakes in Maryland-to name just a few! -and she firmly believes that food is the best way to connect with a culture. When she’s not steaming up a plate of Dumplings, Krissy can be found exploring the outdoors with her husband, two young children, and Dog. She lives in Burlington, Vermont.
Haley Hazell is a professional food stylist, recipe developer, and graphic designer. She grew up in a Jewish household in Los Angeles, where her earliest culinary experiences were defined by global flavors; fresh, seasonal produce; and family time spent gathered around the table. Haley worked as a graphic designer for many years before attending the San Francisco Culinary School. She went on to work at Good Eggs (an online grocery and meal-kit service) before starting her own business food styling and creating content, recipes, and packaging design for food brands. She lives in San Diego with her husband and daughter.
Manita Boonyong’s illustrations are inspired by the fun of daily life, combining silliness and joy to tell meaningful stories that put a smile on people’s faces. Manita lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thank you,
