The Mommies Reviews

It’s Wednesday, October 16, 2019, and time for Language Arts for Homeschool and today I would like to invite you to check out these Recommended Websites:

Pumpkin Fun!

Visit your local pumpkin patch

Age Range: 3-8 (Grades PreK-3, with parental supervision) While this page was created with preschoolers in mind, many of the activities suggested will be fun for the whole family.

When you get to the site, you’ll see the article “Pumpkin Fun!” – with all kinds of ideas for learning with pumpkins.

Then scroll down to Pumpkin Language Arts to see a link to “Pumpkin Circle: The Story of a Garden Lesson Plan”. Don’t miss “Pumpkins in Children’s Literature” where you can read the poem, “Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater” and your child can color the picture online.

And here are a few more informational sites on pumpkins

Local Harvest: Pumpkin Patch

To find a pumpkin farm near you visit this website. When you get to the site you’ll see a picture of pumpkins with a search box under it. Simply enter your zip code or city and state and a new screen opens with pumpkin farms and patches near you. Click on any one listed and a new page opens with information on that farm, visiting hours, directions, any fees, etc.

For another resource to locate a pumpkin farm or festival near you try Pumpkin Patches and More. Click the “Start Here” button in the top menu bar.

Recommended Website: File Folder Fun – Language Arts

When you get to the site, scroll down to the grade you are interested in and click on the link for the Language Arts related activities. Or to make it easier, we have listed some of the links below:

Read the explanation and/or instructions, then download the game/activity you are interested in. There are also skill building links and supplementary resources. The activities at this site are for younger children, but older children may enjoy preparing them for their siblings.

(While there are a variety of free file folder activities at this commercial site, there are many more available for sale.)

When you are through exploring the Language Arts activities, check out the Math, Science, and Social Studies activities. There is so much at this site, so bookmark it to return often!

Thank you,
