Welcome to a new review for the self-help book not only for parents of teens but anyone dealing with teens. This new book is called KEEP YOUR COOL WHEN PARENTING TEENS: 7 HACKS TO SET HEALTHY BOUNDARIES, LECTURE LESS, LISTEN MORE, AND BUILD A STRONG RELATIONSHIP by David Skiddy. I received the book in exchange for this review.
Charlie and I’ve been struggling more and more over what he can and can’t do. As much as I hate to say this it seems a lot of Charlie’s friends are raising themselves. Living in cars and sheds doing Drugs and Vaping. Taking alcohol to school. Walking all over town day and night. Not having a curfew and so much more.
After the weekend and our movie experience yesterday, you will see what I’ve been facing with Charlie. Although I did learn Charlie has been listening and does follow my rules like all children one day he may not, and I knew I would need to deal with that in a different way. This book has come at the right time because one of Charlie’s friends is living here.
Not, only that Spring Break is coming, and I plan on having Jacob’s parents over and William and Ronald. I will be sharing this book with them and discussing mine and David’s rules. As well as answering the questions in the book and setting goals for everyone. Were even going to set a contract that both the parents and kids have to sign which we all agree on. Otherwise, they will not be able to be around Charlie.
Through this book now that I’ve found new ways to not only deal with Charlie but his friends in writing which I’ve shared with Charlie. It’s taken the stress off our family were all getting along better. I know longer want to leave Charlie and David. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out KEEP YOUR COOL WHEN PARENTING TEENS as soon as possible you should.
Charlie, David and I’ve made KEEP YOUR COOL WHEN PARENTING TEENS a part of our Home Economics Class and we are reading and working through the book as a family. All family counselors should keep this book on hand at all times. As well as Pastors who counsel Teens. High-School teachers can even use KEEP YOUR COOL WHEN PARENTING TEENS.

Are you unsure of how to parent your not-so-little son or daughter now that they’ve reached their teenage years?
Do you ever worry that you are giving them too little or too much independence?
Are you unsure of how to discipline your teenager now that timeouts no longer hold the same weight?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, then you have come to the right place.
As parents, your number one goal is to prepare your children to leave the nest and flourish on their own. And let’s face it – you only have a few more years to teach your teen everything they need to know before they take on the world as young adults.
However, in one recent study, 25% of parents admitted they were their teen’s main barrier to “launching” and moving out because they did not take the time or effort to give their teens more independence during those crucial teenage years.
Don’t be a part of this statistic. Discover what you need to know about parenting now for your teen to have success later.
This complete step-by-step guide will help you get through to your teen by discovering the inner workings of their minds and using this to inform your parenting.
In this guide, you will discover:
- How to transition from parenting children to adolescents with little pushback or upheaval
- An overview of the different parenting styles and which work best in raising healthy, happy young adults

- Why self-care matters for both parents and teens – and how to fit easy self-care routines into your busy schedules
And so much more.
Parenting is one of the most rewarding jobs – hugs for no reason, the occasional drive-by “thank you” or “I love you,” the light in their eyes when they see you show up to an event they are a part of.
But it is also the hardest job you’ll ever have – long hours, no pay, and little recognition for your efforts. And sometimes, those hard moments can overshadow the good, especially when your children reach their teenage years.
Find ways to not only survive their teenage years but to have your relationship with them thrive as they enter this next stage of their lives.

About the Author
David Skiddy is the author of Essential Life Skills for Teens.
His work aims to inspire teenagers to think about the future, safe in the knowledge that there’s nothing wrong with changing dreams and adjusting plans. His mission is to provide adolescents with the tools they need in order to consider their aims for the future, while embracing changes in their understanding of the world and adjusting their plans accordingly.
David has become increasingly aware of the absence of essential-skills teaching in schools and colleges. It was when he realized that his own life may have taken a different path if he’d had some essential life skills at a young age that he became driven to help the next generation avoid making the same mistakes he has. He is acutely aware that the focus on academic achievement takes away from the teaching of essential life skills like time management, problem solving, goal setting, and creativity: skills he knows that many parents struggle to teach their children.
David’s life has taken him through several distinct careers, beginning with performance and ending in logistics. Along the way, he passed through teaching, where he gained a clearer idea of the gaps in the education system. Having tuned into his own trajectory, he has realized that his career choices were less decisions and more impulses, shaped by societal expectations. He remembers his teenage dreams and understands the problem: they were dreams, and he knew nothing about how to plan to make them a reality.
David currently works in logistics and haulage and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of the next generation. He has a master’s degree in classical singing and performance and, despite his career change, still infuses his life with a love of music.
