Just Between Us Father & Daughter The Original Bestselling No-Stress, No-Rules Journal

The Mommies Reviews

I received a copy of . Just Between Us: Father & Daughter The Original Bestselling No-Stress, No-Rules Journal by Jonathan Jacobs (Author),  Sofie Jacobs (Author), Meredith Jacobs (Author), Nate Padavick (Illustrator) in exchange for a review and inside this post are my affiliate links. As soon as I received the press release for Just Between Us Father & Daughter I found myself missing my dad who is now in Heaven even more. I wish I had this book when he was still her and my sister and I could have each filled out a journal with him to keep and hand down to our children so they would be able to get to know there grandfather in a new and unique way.

With the journal laying on my desk Charlie opened it up. As Charlie flipped through the journal Charlie said no, not a book for me. David asked Charlie why. Charlie read the title to David Just Between Us Father & Daughter. I saw David stop and open the book. Then David closed the journal and went upstairs. Later that afternoon David picked up the book again. I knew he was thinking about his daughter’s Leslie and Ashley.

I wish I could get Ashely to come over and fill the journal out with David. I know will never happen because Ashely doesn’t talk to her dad at all or her grandparents. Which is sad because one day they will be gone. Ashely will regret all the time she missed with them. As for Leslie David and her talk and used to be close but not so much anymore. Although, I do plan on asking Leslie to fill the journal out for David for Father’s Day and let me give it to David they David can answer the questions for dads and give the journal to Leslie for her Birthday.

I’m not sure if Leslie will actually take the time to fill the journal out or not. So I may sit down and answer the parts I can about my dad to give to Charlie. Then he will know a little bit about my dad. Then Charlie can ask my sister to also ask the questions. Then we can sit down and read the book together because I am sure Charlie will know things about my dad he want’s to share with us. When Charlie is grown and has his own children, he can share the book with them.

I loved getting to know the Author of the journal and how it came into place. The next time David or Charlie asks me what kind of gift I would like I’m going to ask for something from them personally not the store. Then I will put the gifts in a keepsake box to give back to them one day. Charlie was amazed the journal came from Sophia when she was only 9.

I believe all new dads should have a copy of this journal to answer as their children grow up. This journal can be a safe space for children to share things with their dad there too embarrassed to talk about in person. Charlie and I used the information from this book into a journal of our own in our Homeschool Art Class and Drama Class.

I love how the journal ask us about funny things you’ve said which for me is when Charlie was little said “I love you more than monster trucks and Pizza.” Or at 2 when there was a Donkey on tv and Charlie called me into the living room to let me know the donkey was daddy donkey David which his dad didn’t think was too funny but I did.

In the back of the book is free space where you can leave letters for each other or pictures. The Author even included pages for drawing which David would be better at since he can’t read or spell. As we finished the book, I let David know he needed to get pictures with each of his children to put inside a notebook and start writing to them at least once a week because even if they don’t talk when he is gone they journal can be given to them and they will get to know there dad and how much he loved and misses them.
