Jonas by Susan May Warren

I would like to share a Christian Romantic Suspense book called Jonas by Susan May Warren which I received a copy of in exchange for this review.

Charlie has always been fantasied by storms and David as well. To bring David and Charlie closer together I thought we could read Jonas as a family in the evening for Charlie’s Homeschool Reading Time. Charlie could read for 30 minutes one night. I would read the night and on the third night we could help David read which would improve his reading skills as well.

Jonas is Book 2 of Book 2 in the Minnesota Marshall’s and even though this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone and may be what I do unless David and Charlie decide to read the rest of the series. I would like to make parents aware there in violence in the book so its for older people, but I could see teens over 17 reading it with parental supervision. My son is 16 and Charlie does see violence in video games and real life but I still try and monitor how much he sees or hears.

You will be surprised to find out Jonas did not have a military background or government background but was equally as brave. Jonas’ love interest was a military type, and she was brave too. Having a strong woman who could challenge any man but yet had a soft side really made me fall in love with this book and I bet you do as well.

The characters are very human, with typical human struggles but finally decided not to trust themselves but trust the Lord. If your not into religion or the Lord once again this may not be the book for you. But I enjoyed having this aspect and being able to share God with Charlie and David who love him just as I do but don’t count on him the way I do and these characters did.

Jonasshowed David and Charlie that no, matter how strong someone is the LORD is thee for them and can and will help them. Jonas is a clean book which I prefer when having Charlie read. The chemistry in the book kept me from wanting to put the story down. Which was hard for me because if I had been reading it on my own I would have finished it in one setting.

I cannot wait until Ned comes out in the next novel to read the synopsis to see what happens although I am not sure I will read the entire book but may pick it up to add to our Homeschool Library for David and Charlie to read. Her is something you might not expect to find in Jonas different cultures are shared throughout the story. T

About:

Jonas Marshall is done storm-chasing, plagued with the memory of a terrible accident that paralyzed a fellow chaser, so the last thing he’s going to do is run into more danger. Now, he’s just a simple weatherman deploying dirigibles in an experiment to track weather patterns in Slovenia.

As far from danger as he can get.

But danger comes knocking in the form of hiker in need of rescue, and he can’t deny that her companion—beautiful Sibba Kovac—is a great distraction from the guilt that haunts him…until she paraglides right out of his life.

Probably for the best.

But danger still won’t leave him alone when a storm knocks his dirigibles out of the sky, and he happens upon one that looks tampered with…

It is. And worse, it’s carrying what could be radioactive waste. At least according to EOD expert Sibba…who finds herself face-to-face with the rescuer she can’t forget. But she’s not looking for him—her grandfather is missing, and she’ll stop at nothing to find him.

When her missing grandfather leads to the threat of a dirty bomb, she’s the only one who can stop it. And Jonas is the only man brave enough to run into danger with her. But she doesn’t have room in her heart to love him—not when she lives with death in her periphery. Can the right man, at the right time help her see beyond her fears to a future?

And if they have a chance to save the world, can Jonas let go of the woman he loves?

The thrilling second book in the epic romantic suspense of the Minnesota Marshalls!

That’s why my characters seem to get into one scrape after another—they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.
