If only we all had the opportunity to read a written account about our grandparents. What lessons might we learn? In their poignant retrospective from the post-War era and beyond, Bond of Brothers: Our Stories, Our Legacies, brothers Bob and Nick Finamore serve readers a slice of life from another era — and share enduring life lessons for future generations.

ANNANDALE, NJ, Jan. 31, 2025 — In Bond of Brothers: Our Stories, Our Legacies, brothers  Bob and Nick Finamore invite readers to post-War era New Jersey, as the “boys” navigate the ups and downs of high school and then embark on divergent paths as they pursue different interests and careers — all the while, the two share an enduring fraternal bond.

“Along those very different paths, we always stayed together and in touch and helped each other,” Nick Finamore said.

Bond of Brothers begins with their boyhood days at Paterson Central High School. Nick would go on to explore challenging hobbies and adventures. He became a pilot and partner in a Piper Arrow Airplane; a performing pianist; a sailboat enthusiast on Cape Cod waters; and a licensed ham radio operator.

Bob, an athlete from a young age, played football at Memphis State University, signed with the New York Jets, and afterward, served for two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.

The authors trace their touching memories of saving Dolphins at the Jersey Shore and comforting their 102-year-old mother on her deathbed. Woven throughout these glimpses into lives well lived are the secrets to their enduring connection to one another.

“In the end, we reveal the one secret to our lessons learned,” the Authors said in the book’s introduction.

Bond of Brothers: Our Stories, Our Legacies is the follow-up to their first book, Two Jersey Brothers: Stories from Our Haledon Boyhood 1939-1953, which recounts their early days in the small, quiet, one-square-mile town of Haledon, New Jersey, during the Depression and World War II eras.

Their grandparents had emigrated from Fraine and Caserta, Italy, and, like most of their close family members, worked in the Mills of neighboring Paterson, the “Silk City.” In this vivid memoir they recall the colorful Haledon customers they served in their family’s vintage Belmont Diner, and delve into the values of respect, discipline and hard work they learned from their family.
