JEANNIE SEELY RECOGNIZED AT GRAND OLE OPRY

I remember as a child my parents having a collection of Albums with all there favorite singers music and one of the albums was on from Jeannie Seely and on it was her song called Harper Valley PTA, and as a child, it wasn’t appropriate song although I didn’t realize it as the time. All I knew was a like the beat of the music they played.
One day in Music class when I was in Elementary school, told we could bring one of our favorite records to school for everyone to share with our friends. My parents left for work before I went to school. I grabbed my parents copy of Harper Valley PTA and took off to school. Once we got to our Music class, the teacher asked if anyone had albums to be shared with the classroom.
I held up my hand, and she said go and put your record on the record player. Once we finish listening to the song the class will discuss what they liked about it or disliked about so my song started playing the teacher’s faces went pale, and she asked me to bring her my record and asked someone else to play there.
She took me and my album to the office and called my parents. Once they picked me up from school, we had a come to Jesus meeting about what music I could or couldn’t listen to and share with my friends. This song became one I couldn’t play until grown. I would like to let my parents know I still play her music and I love it just as much as I did as a child.
I am so excited to be able to let you know JEANNIE SEELY RECOGNIZED AT GRAND OLE OPRY FOR BILLBOARD TOP TV SONGS CHART PLACEMENT. I have a question for you have you heard of Harper Valley PTA and do you like it or not? Would you let your children listen to it or not?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 8, 2018) – 50 year Grand Ole Opry veteran Jeannie Seely is a Grammy winner, country hitmaker, and award-winning songwriter. During her hosting segment on the Grand Ole Opry Friday night, she was presented with an award recognizing her song “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)” for reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Top TV Songs Chart in January of this year.

Written in 1964 by Seely with Judith Arbuckle, Pat Sheeran and Randy Newman and formerly a pop and R&B hit for Irma Thomas; the song has seen much-renewed popularity. It used in several TV shows including “Big Little Lies,” “Orphan Black,” “NFL GameDay Morning,” “Here And Now” (on HBO).  Multiple episodes of “Black Mirror,” has been used in movie trailers for “Moonlight” and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” Recorded by artists like Seal, Boyz II Men, Jessica Brown-Findlay, Samantha Whates – and Jeannie Seely herself (for her latest CD Written In Song).

“It is absolutely amazing to me the way this song just keeps showing up in different genres and uses. One of the reasons, I believe, is the haunting melody, and the other is the vulnerability of the lyrics,” said Jeannie Seely. “Whatever the reason, I’m sure glad that it does, and I’m very grateful to all who have recorded it.”
