Two students from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Academy in Queens will be recognized by the Office of Assembly Member David Weprin for their heroics in helping a woman who fell on the sidewalk outside of the school in October. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, January 7 at 11 a.m. at the school, which is located at 24444 87th Ave. in the Bellerose neighborhood of Queens.
The two students – Christian Fiorillo and Colin Winn helped Janet Miranda call an ambulance and stayed with her until the ambulance came.
“Today I took a nasty fall on the sidewalk on 241 street,” Miranda wrote to the school’s principal Joseph Paniccia. “Two eighth grade St. Greg’s boys were walking behind me and rushed to help. I was bleeding badly and the boys helped me call an ambulance and my daughter. Then they ran to the deli to get napkins for the bleeding. Both boys stayed with me until the ambulance came. They were just wonderful. They are a credit to the school and their families.”
Assemble Member Weprin will be represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Imran Rahman.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
