Easter Gift Guide 2023: James Cagney Was My Babysitter

The Mommies Reviews

I would like to share another children’s book which you will find inside our Easter Gift Guide 2023: James Cagney Was My Babysitter by Ryan Cassidy with Johhny Ray Miller illustrated by Andrea Carvajal which I received in exchange for this review.

It’s funny as soon as I heard the name James Cagney I kept thinking I had seen a tv show with him in it but looking online I could find loads of movies I hadn’t watched but not any tv shows leaving me stumped. My question for you is. Do you remember any tv shows with James Cagney in them?

In the meantime, it doesn’t matter because once you sit down to read James Cagney Was My Babysitter you will be drawn in by the story and wish he had been your babysitter as a child. I have a question for you. Do you know who Ryan Cassidy is? If not, he was the son of Shirly Jones who I know you should know and his dad Jack Cassidy.

Not only that he was on one of my favorite television shows The Partridge Family which I feel in love with like all young girls in America. Although for me it wasn’t just because of David Cassidy but the bus they toured in which I would like to have. How about you? Do you remember any of the songs because I do.

Before I gush anymore, about the show and music I wanted to get back to James Cagney Was My Babysitter NEW RELEASE! Charlie wanted to let you know you should check out the young man’s suit and that he would like to have. Charlie said it looks like the young man was in the spotlight getting ready to tap dance and yes, I agree with Charlie.

I love how James Cagney Was My Babysitter NEW RELEASE! is dedicated to all the children inside us. Charlie like the little boy in the book is shy and has been told he is a old soul as well. I know if Charlie had the opportunity to not only meet James Cagney but the young man they would have been best friends.

This may be a children’s book but adults will love this story just as much as children will. I love that he teaches us about animals and how to be kind to everyone. By the end of the book I found myself tearing up reading about the phone call Shirley received. This new book has become one of my favorite books and one of my most prized possessions that I plan on purchasing for my niece and nephew. As well as another copy for Charlie because I refuse to share my copy with anyone and if you purchase this book I bet you feel the same way.

About:

Imagine you are an 8-year-old introvert informed by your father that you will spend the afternoon at a famous actor’s house—a famous actor you’ve never met! In fact, this famous actor from Hollywood’s golden age will be your babysitter. From the spooky car ride up a narrow driveway in Benedict Canyon to the creaky opening of the front door that reveals an elderly James Cagney, you are captivated!

The star of The Public Enemy, Yankee Doodle Dandy, White Heat, Mister Roberts and many other Hollywood classics is nothing like you’d expect. He’s not brash; he’s not a killer; he isn’t loud, and he doesn’t sing and dance. He is quiet and gentle and full of imagination. This isn’t a scary gangster—this is Santa Claus!

In one afternoon away from the pressures of a perfectionist father, you relax and fall under the spell of a wonderful babysitter who makes you feel special and encourages you to enter an imaginary world where leprechauns come to life and Owls speak to you from the Trees. Hours later, you leave James Cagney’s house changed from a timid child into an enthusiastic young man who’s infused with self-confidence and ready for life’s next adventure.
