If You Give A Mouse A Brownie Presented By Laura Numeroff

If You Give A Mouse A Brownie Presented By Laura Numeroff

This weekend is Charlie’s Birthday and with children of all ages attending the party. I have been working on things everyone can do. So, no one ends up bored or arguing that there isn’t anything for them to do. Or no, one will play with me.

I am planning a reading corner and will be reading If You Give A Mouse A Brownie and instead of having a cake or cupcakes everyone will be making Brownies and when they are done everyone will be given a Brownie to decorate and the best decorated brownie will win a prize.

Mouse is back in this ninth picture book in the beloved #1 New York Times bestselling If You Give… series!

If you give a mouse a brownie, he’s going to ask for some ice cream to go with it. When you give him the ice cream, he’ll probably ask you for a spoon. He’ll start drumming on the table. Drumming will get him so excited he’ll want to start a band. . . .

Mouse makes his long-anticipated return to the spotlight in this winning picture book from the acclaimed team of Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.

Fans of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie won’t want to miss this!

Laura Joffe Numeroff

Laura Numeroff is the New York Times bestselling author of IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, RAISING A HERO and WHAT MOMMIES DO BEST/WHAT DADDIES DO BEST. Laura was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up as the youngest of three girls, surrounded by art, music, and books. Laura attended Pratt Institute and graduated with a degree in communications and a contract for her first children’s book, AMY FOR SHORT, published in 1975 by Macmillan.

A New York Times best-selling children’s book author, Laura is best known for the series based on her book IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE. First printed in 1985, “Mouse” is now beyond its 60th printing. The fourth book in the series, IF YOU TAKE A MOUSE TO THE MOVIES was on the New York Times Children’s Best Seller list for five months- nine weeks at number one.

In 2000, IF YOU GIVE A PIG A PANCAKE was featured on the Oprah show and was recommended by Oprah’s first kids’ book club, as well as being noted as Oprah’s favorite children’s book of the year on her Christmas show. “Pig” was also on Publishers Weekly Bestseller List for over a year. In addition, the series has sold over 4.5 million copies, been printed in fourteen languages, and won the prestigious Quill Award in the picture book category.

An avid animal lover, Laura has always wanted to write a book about service dogs. In 2016, with co-creator Sean Hanrahan, she released the first book of a new children’s series celebrating dogs with incredible jobs. RAISING A HERO supports Canine Companions for Independence and represents all those –human and canine– helping children, adults and veterans with disabilities and special needs.

President George W. Bush, First Ladies Laura Bush & Hillary Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama, with her mother and two daughters Malia and Sasha, read Laura’s IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE at the 2010 Easter Egg Roll on the White House Lawn. Laura was one of ten children’s authors invited to a literacy day in Washington during the Bush administration in 2001. Laura has also visited over 100 elementary schools and has been a speaker at teacher conferences around the country.

In addition to her work with service dogs, Laura also donates a portion of her book royalties to First Book, a non-profit organization that provides brand new books to children who otherwise would not have access to them. She donated all royalties from THE HOPE TREE – KIDS TALK ABOUT CANCER, to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Laura is thrilled at the release of her latest book, IF YOU GIVE A MAN A COOKIE, which is a fun parody of her IF YOU GIVE franchise… but it’s NOT a children’s book!

Best Brownies
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan.

In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overcook.

To Make Frosting: Combine 3 tablespoons softened butter, 3 tablespoons cocoa, honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 cup confectioners’ sugar. Stir until smooth. Frost brownies while they are still warm.

Now, my question for you is should we make homemade Brownies, purchase brownies already cooked or buy a box mix and use it for the brownies? Because if you asked Charlies sister Leslie she would say to pick up Betty Crocker Walnut Premium Brownie Mix with Hershey’s, 16.5 oz. As they are so good and have always been a staple in our home.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
