I Was Shopping For Christmas Presents For My Nephew David when he was little for Christmas. I couldn’t decide what Gift to purchase for David. One morning I walked into the store when I saw a set of Lincoln Logs which I purchased for David. Even though they were David’s,Imaginarium Discovery Timber Log Set seems like Suzzane and I played with them more than David ever did.
Fast forward to last year: Charlie asked for a set of Lincoln Logs because he played with them at his friend’s house. I thought about what Charlie said. When my mother n law asked what to get Charlie for Christmas I mentioned Charlie had said he would like a set of Lincoln Logs.
Before I knew what was happening Granny Sherry picked up a set of Lincoln Logs for Charlie for Christmas. Sherry went back and also purchased a set for Charlie for her house.
When Charlie went down to her house to open Christmas presents Charlie brought his set back, I was blown away as I thought she had gotten Charlie a small set of Lincoln Logs but she didn’t.
Sherry purchased Charlie a set from Toys R Us called Imaginarium Discovery Timber Log Set with 300 pieces in it. This set of Lincoln Logs comes in a hand bucket,. Which we can always put our Lincoln Logs back into the container and not worry about the dogs getting a hold of them or them getting lost.
On Monday for art, I will have Charlie build our dream house and count how many pieces it took to create the home. As well as how long it took and what he could do to make the house faster. Then to write a report detailing the steps Charlie used to build the house. I will have Charlie explain the actions he used and if there were others steps he could have used.
I like using Lincoln Logs as they take care of several classes all at one time. I can work on the things I need to do why Charlie was doing is working on his school work. I don’t have to sit and hold his hand, and since he is into King Kong and Godzilla, he can write a story about what would happen if they came to the house he built and what happened to his home.
Once again with Homeschooling, you can think outside the box and use items you own in new and unusual ways to teach our children. While building the home, we could add cars and trucks to it and make it a full city, and we could take our Lincoln Logs outside for a Nature Study. Or I could have Charlie make us a picnic lunch to take with him and our cooking he would even have more lessons done.
For Charlie, by incorporating these ideas into our lesson plans, Charlie wouldn’t be as bored as he gets when we sit at the table and do book work. I believe Charlie would be more focused and even sit for more extended periods of time increasing his mental focus and concentration and is what we need to work on for school.
If you would like to get a set of Imaginarium Discovery, you will find them sold exclusively at Toys R Us Imaginarium Timber-log-Set. If you’re like me, you can shop online and have them shipped right to your door and save both time and money or can let your student google Toys RUs, and it would help with their spelling and give them time on the computer. In homeschool, they can take a computer class which would be an extracurricular class and something they something they need in homeschool.
