Erika’s Tea Room Shares How To Celebrate Your Perfect Iced Tea Experience!

Erika’s Tea Room wants to help everyone enjoy the perfect glass of iced tea! While the final ‘d’ in iced tea is pronounced with a ‘t’, the correct wording is ‘Iced Tea’. Erika’s Tea Room of Clermont, Florida has quickly gained national attention for their tea and scone expertise. Here are some tips on how to best make and enjoy iced tea from Erika Shanoff, co-owner of Erika’s Tea Room.

Purchase the proper first flush tea, with iced tea flavors you will most enjoy. We always have 8 flavorful teas available that are perfect for iced tea. These include Peach, Mango, Brûlée Mint, Meyer Lemon, Garden of Eden, Hibiscus, Passion Fruit Jasmine and plain Black Tea flavors. The more flavorful the variety, the better iced tea it will make.

Iced Tea Selections: There are plenty of flavorful options, yet Black Tea is most commonly used for iced tea. For example, our Summer Peach Tea is our most popular and it is usually enjoyed with no sugar or extra sweeteners.

Fruit flavors are great for refreshing and tasty iced teas any time of the year. For example, our Brûlée Mint is a cross between Crème Brûlée and peppermint. It is my personal favorite. This special Caramel Mint blend helps to bring your body temperature down to cool you off in any warm weather.

While regular Orange Pekoe or Black Tea is most common, all tea flavors can be enjoyed chilled or over ice. Whether you select white, green or black, feel free to try any of your favorite teas over ice. Black Tea is oxidized for the longest amount of time, resulting in the most caffeine per cup. White Tea is the least amount.

Try A Cold Brew For Iced Tea. Our Iced Tea is perfectly Sacheted to make a 2-quart pitcher. Throw the Sachet into your favorite pitcher and add filtered, purified or tap water. You can make the best cold brew by letting it sit overnight in your refrigerator. It is the same idea as making Sun Tea but you’re doing it in your temperature-controlled fridge.

This helps to keep the full body and taste of your Tea, since you won’t dilute the flavor by adding ice. Note that when you first boil water before adding ice to your Tea, the ice will dilute the flavor of the Teas. Thus, there is no need to steep your iced Tea with boiling water. Cold Brew is the way to go!

Sweeteners & Flavor Additives: Most people enjoy Tea au natural! Besides Sugar and artificial sweeteners, a simple sugar syrup works very well. You can make your own Iced Tea Syrup with a boiled and cooled mix of a Sugar and water mix.

Natural Honey flavors are often enjoyed, although Honey skews the flavor of your Tea selection. Fresh Mint is a terrific additive. All kinds of fresh Fruit infusions are terrific, especially Oranges, Mango and Lemon.

We suggest you save your Creamer and Milk for when you enjoy your Hot Teas. Don’t forget to add a few Scones and/or Finger Sandwiches as the perfect iced Tea accompaniments.

Extra Benefits Of Iced TeaIced teas will add much needed hydration on hot days. Tea is a very rich source of a specific kind of healthy Antioxidant for your body, often called flavonoids.

The detoxifying effect of these antioxidants helps protects body cells from free radicals. Iced Tea is a great alternative to sugary sweet sodas. As a non-carbonated cold beverage, Ice Tea can help you with stomach and digestion challenges.

Black Tea drinking is a potentially major source of dietary manganese, while it is also believed to be good for your teeth. Tea has the benefit of inherent calming qualities.

One or two glasses of Iced Tea will offer fabulous refreshing rewards. While stronger Caffeinated Coffee drinks may give you the jitters and an accelerated heart palpitation, Tea typically has half the Caffeine of Coffee.

For those who may want it, decaffeinated Iced Tea is also wonderful. Iced Tea remains a wonderfully safe alternative to most any other beverage. Ask us about our Iced Tea Samplers where you can try a wide selection of flavors and see which strikes your fancy.

We also make perfectly paired Scones to accompany each variety. A perfect way to relax on your back porch on a hot day!
