Charlie is obsessed with Basketball and none of his friends have been over to play Basketball with Charlie. So to keep Charlie interested in Math and Basketball this week in #HomeschoolWithBoardGames: NBA Math Hoops board game is what we will be using this week.

BOARD GAME

The NBA Math Hoops board game was developed in an Educator’s classroom and has scaled to reach over a quarter million students nationwide. All games are produced by Hasbro and focus on foundational Math Skills for Elementary and Middle School Students.

DIGITAL BOARD GAME

The digital board game adaptation brings the original NBA Math Hoops gaming experience to life online. The game extends the program experience by including a broader range of featured athletes, regularly updated data, and a classroom league infrastructure for educators.

MOBILE APP

The mobile app creates practice opportunities for foundational K-8 math skills, including basic operations, number identification, roots, exponents, fractions, decimals, and percentages. The game features a series of mini-games that integrate NBA and WNBA team brands.

Reading Class:

Set Math Hoops up and ask the individuals who are playing to come sit down at the Game Table.

Read the Instructions to them and once you finish ask them questions to make sure they understand what is going to happen and why.

Then let them ask you questions to make sure you understand what is going to happen.

Write notes inside your Reading Journal of things you want to remember.

Include who played Math Hoops and who won and who lost. Were the good sports or not?

Spelling Class:

NBA, Hasbro, Math Hoops, Getty Images, Basketball, Exercise, Playing, Outdoor Sports, Running, Dribble, Draft Your Team, Roll and Record, Pick A Shooter, Take the Shot, Keep Score, Game Time, Calling Fouls, Turnovers, Steals, Playing the Game, Rules and Regulations, Player Cards, Lineup

Write your Spelling Words inside your Spelling Journal and include a definition of each word.

Math Class:

Count the pieces of the Game and when you finish share the number with the players.

Ask one of them to create 5 Math problems for you to work out.

Create 4 Math problems for them to figure out.

Write the Math problems inside your Math Journal.

Art Class:

Create a piece of Art based on the Game and include a explanation of what you drew which you will write down inside your Art Jorunal.

Drama Class:

Act out a Scene that happened in the Game and explain what your acting out and why.

Write the description inside your Drama Journal.

Music Class:

Create a Song/Jingle based on the Game that could be used in a Commercial and sing the song to the players before you begin playing Math Hoops.

Write the song inside your Music Jorunal.

Cooking Class:

Create a Snack based on the Game which you can serve while playing the Game.

Write the Recipe inside your Cooking Journal which will be turned into a Cookbook at the end of the year.
