In our series I would like to share our series #HomeschoolWithBoardGames: Kaboom from Blue Orange Games which is what we will be using this week in our classroom

Kaboom Ages 6 and UP
2-5 Players

Enter a war of destructive construction where builders erect teetering towers that saboteurs try to smash with their demolishing dice! As the Master Builder, you must assemble your tower against the chaotic onslaught of catapults to try to get the most points.

But come next round, you’ll be the saboteur behind the catapult creating catastrophe for your opponent builder. Will you build multiple towers against your enemies?

Or will you try for the grand prize and master the Mega Tower? All ages will love this challenge of speed and precision mingled with some great destructive fun! Skills:

Lesson Plans

Reading Class:

Set the Board Game up and ask the people waiting to play to sit down. Then read the instructions to them. Once you finish ask them questions to make sure they understand what is going to happen and why. Then let them ask you questions to make sure you understand what is going to happen.

Write notes inside your Reading Journal to check back on throughout the year. Include who played the Game and who won and who lost. Were the good winner and losers?

Spelling Class:

Math: You will be adding and counting the points you give. Who gets to to 100 wins. How many times did it take you to reach your goal?

Count all of the Game Pieces and once you come up with the number share the information with the players. Then ask them to create 5 Math problems for you work out.

Then create 5 Math Problems for them to work out.

Write the Math problems inside your Math Journal.

Science:

Build two different buildings using the blocks. Then write a report telling us what is the same about the building and what is different and why inside your Science Journal.

Art Class:

Become a Architect using Art Supplies creating a plan showing the instructions to the buildings your drawing and what might happen as your creating them.

Write the explanation inside your Art Journal.

Drama Class:

Act out what the blocks might say as there being used to build a building. Don’t forget to include what they might say as they fall.

Write your thoughts inside your Drama Journal.

Cooking Class:

Create a Snack based on the Game that can be served while playing.

Write the Recipe inside your Cooking Journal which will be turned into a Cookbook at the end of the year.
