Good morning, How are you? I wanted to share a Homeschooling Science Resource with everyone. The new website is for Paleontology Portal. If you have used this website what did you like or dislike about this resource and why? Recommended Website: Paleontology Portal Age Range: 11-18 (Grades 6-12, with parental supervision) Funded by the National Science Foundation and produced by the University of California Museum of Paleontology, the United States Geological Survey and others, this website offers a free “portal” to resources and interactive lessons that help students learn geology and paleontology. At the website, select from one of the following destinations: Exploring Time & Space – Discover the geology and paleontology of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Fossil Gallery – View fossil images of plants, fungi, invertebrates, vertebrates, and more. Famous Flora & Fauna – Click on an interactive map to learn about significant North American fossil finds. K-12 – This section is a TREASURE TROVE of links to interactive resources that help students fully appreciate paleontology by exploring plate tectonics, geologic time, and fossil records. You’ll also find links to resources for careers in paleontology, information on how to collect fossils, links to museums you can visit with fossil collections, and read bios and interviews with paleontologists and geologists. Navigating this website is simple and fun, making this a wonderful starting point for those interested in paleontology. |
