Good morning, I thought this week I would share with you a new website you can use in your Homeschooling classes. DLTK-Children’s Book Breaks you will find a website full of arts and crafts for pre-readers and early readers. As I was on the site DLTK I found a lot of books I can’t wait to share with Charlie.
Along with the Book Report ideals I can use after school each day when Charlie comes home from school and has to read each day. I can’t wait to check this section out as it teaches us how to make a Diorama and since I have no, clue what it is it will be fun spending time with Charlie learning about a Diorama and making one for Charlie.
Age Range: 4-10 (for pre-readers and early readers, Grades PreK-4, with parental supervision)
This is a massive arts and crafts website that offers free coloring pages and craft activities that correlate with children’s literature including books, fairy tales, fables and nursery rhymes. It’s a great way to extend the learning (and the fun!) after you read a story with your child.
When you get to the website you’ll see a menu that includes:
- Aesop’s Fables
- Arthur
- Clifford the Big Red Dog
- Curious George
- If You Give A Mouse A Cookie
- Nursery Rhyme Activities
- Stone Soup
- ~ and many more!
Click on any title and a new page opens where you’ll find printable coloring pages of the book characters and scenes, as well as craft activities such as instructions and printable templates for making puppets, felt board characters, story sequencing cards, and art projects of all kinds.
Be sure to click on:
- Book Report Ideas – Get free templates for making a book report and a diorama.
- Home Made School Journals – Access free instructions and templates on how to make your own personalized journals and diaries.
- Mini Books – Find an amazing array of printable alphabet stories, Bible stories, holiday stories, and some themed stories. You can also print out templates for making custom stories that are all about your child.
DLTK offers fun ways to enhance learning through blending reading, writing, and art
I was looking through the site I found a fun new craft Charlie and I can’t wait to make. It is a Bookworm Paper Craft and we will be making a worm. Each time Charlie finishes a book we will add another piece of the worms body to the paper. I can’t wait to see how long it is before the end of the year. Be watching because who knows I might make my own worm.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
