Homeschooling Reading Resources

Charlie struggles with reading and I’ve been trying to get to the library each week to pick up books for Charlie and I. I love to read and can never have enough books.

Only it has been hard to get to the library because David has the car and with the hours he works either Charlie isn’t here to go with me. Or the library is closed when David gets home.

I have started to look into more E-Books for Charlie and I because both of us have tablets. I also have a Kindle I’ve never used. The only reason I haven’t used E-Books is I can’t physically hold the book and flip through the pages like I prefer to do.

I’ve been spending more time on Good Reads a site where you can read books for free and Amazon where I can find  free books for Charlie and myself.

If your looking for websites to get new Ebooks from you might also want to check out the following sites:

Overdrive

Overdrive provides digital content to over 30,000 libraries around the world. It’s free if your library is part of this network. You borrow eBooks, Audiobooks, and Videos and access them using the app on your PC or mobile devices.

I would suggest that even though Overdrive is free to use to check with your library before you sign up with them because if your library isn’t part of the network then you wouldn’t be able to use this resource.

If the library isn’t a part of Overdrives, then you could visit them and share the website with the head librarian and ask them to visit ask them to set up their Library for there clients to use.

Epic!

Epic! is an ebook library with thousands of fiction and non-fiction books for kids 5-12 years old. and they recommends books based on a child’s interests (which you share when you set up your child’s account) and keeps a reading log of their progress. The kids can read on the computer and mobile devices in a safe, controlled environment.

I like Epic! which keeps a reading log of Charlie’s progress  helping me ] keep up with what Charlie is reading then I could transfer it to his reading log for school.

Kindle Unlimited

Kindle Unlimited allows you to read over 1 million Kindle books as much as you want. You can access the books from any device with the Kindle reading app (not just Kindles). You also have access to over 20,000 audiobooks.

You don’t need to own a Kindle device to enjoy Kindle Unlimited. With our free Kindle Reading apps, you can read on any device with the Kindle app installed. And of course, you can always read on your Kindle. With Kindle Unlimited, you can take every word, every sentence, every story, everywhere you go.

Wondering which site you should use? You can find out more about each by trying them for yourself all for free.

As a mom who did Homeschool there are always expenses with Homeschooling. One resource I would suggest you check out when your purchasing supplies for your children is either a Kindle or a Laptop as they will use these for  many different things and makes it easier if they have there own computers or tablet to use.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post for Homeschooling Reading Resources, and I would like to ask what you use for your children. As well as what you use for yourself.
